Evening Soldier.

Yes very good debut, liked the way he stretched clear under hands and heels. Couldn't ask for any more first time out. Looks to have good staying potential starting off at 7f. Could we have seen a future Ascot Gold Cup horse tonight?

You'd have thought if he progresses well, they might aim him at middle distances next year. Nice prospect.

Overal race time slower the 65 rated horse in following race and the last 2f similar time so I would not go rushing for the ante post prices. I am told the headwind decreased through the evening but I would still want more. If he turns out to be average then it should be posted up as the classic example of how passing trees can look impressive... jury out

Certainly not a fast time but won easily enough. Got fancy entries but as stated below the jury is still out until he steps up from a Class 4 maiden and on to turf.

Sorry SOF, only just noticed this thread. As others have said it wasn't a fast time, but that was probably due to the others not being able to go fast enough early to set up a fast time. I would also take on board what Olias said about the strong headwind. The winner was only produced to win the race over a furlong out so you couldn't expect him to do any more than he did. Everything points to him being some kind of Group horse but whether he's a future Gp1 winner can only be guessed at until more evidence.
