Only 6 go to post with Masar the Derby winner the 5/4 fav. Next best is Mirage Dancer at 9/4; the rest are Baghdad (13/2), Dashing Willoughby (12/1), Desert Encounter and Communique both at 16/1; Dashing Willoughby is getting 3lbs from his elders.

Masar is short, and can he be beaten? Masar beat 3 non-stayers (Roaring Lion/Saxon Warrior/Hazapour) and a plodder Dee Ex Bee (runner-up) who'd since won 2 races over 2 miles.

Communique...16/1

Horse is 3/3 at Newmarket, small field which he can dictate from the front and stable bang in form. Masar is a poor priced favourite who still has a lot to prove

Outside Masar there are values to be had, I firmly believe. But, which one? Mirage Dancer?

Well done 'twonky'; 16/1, what a lovely jolly. SDS rode an intelligent and astute race.

Masar was blown away; that Derby form was sh1te.

Thanks lads, nice to call one right every now and then.

Regarding the race using hindsight. Was it really a good group 2? If so, a length and half beating and giving weight would make the winner a group 1horse and looking at his form, then surely that can't be right. Imo, he had his ideal condition which is a course with a long finishing straight where he can grind out a result, not to dissimilar to Halling. Now here is his problem, I can't see any group 1or 2 race over a mile and half  in this country for the rest of the season. All I see is the Irish st leger at the curragh or the Canadian international at woodbine, providing the ground is riding fast of course. Any other race and he's very opposable.
