The 1st and 2nd in the Epsom Oaks ie Anapurna is being rested with Pink Dogwood targeting the Pretty Polly respectively, according to their trainers; 2nd fav there Mehdaayih (7th), Manuela De Vega (4th) and Frankellina (6th) are doing battle again along with probably Queen Power, Entitle and  few others from the O'Brien's stable too.

The present betting are Pink Dogwood (5/1); Mehdaayih (5/1); Queen Power (6/1); Manuela De Vega (8/1); Entitle 8/1); 10/1 bar. The unlucky horse in the Oaks was Mehdaayih, and the ground  (probable softish) would be in her favour too as she won in commanding fashion at Chester on that.

Manuela De Vega for me IF she runs. Talk of Irish Oaks targeted instead. She was also unlucky in the Oaks. That was a messy race at Epsom. Think she may well turn out to be best of the lot but probably prefers some cut in the ground.

The ground at Royal Ascot next week will be at least softish with so much precipitation expected between now and then; Irish Oaks is 20th July a long way away; Pink Dogwood to the Pretty Polly a Gp1 race instead of the Ribblesdale a Gp 2.

Manuela De Vega was unlucky at Epsom nevertheless, she was comprehensively beaten by Mehdaayih (receiving 3lbs), and the ground was soft that day at Chester. Last year Magic Wand won this on good to firm after finishing 4th at Epsom on unsuitable soft ground.

Still no confirmation from trainers about the participation of their charges here in particular Pink Dogwood, Mehdaayih, Entitle, Shambolic, Frankellina and Nausha.

AOB has stated Pink Dogwood would be going for the Gp1 Pretty Polly rather than this Gp2 paving the way for Mehdaayih and Manuela De Vega. But, surprisingly Queen Power is the fav. Do they know something we do not?

AOB  also stated  , that sir dragonet most likely french derby, hermosa diane,    i would  check the calender if he said that today is thursday . But yes i cant see pink dogwood going for a group 2, when a group 1 is beckoning in the pretty polly or irish oaks.

Elis, how would you rate Dragonet's chances of lining up for the King Edward percentage-wise?
Report impossible123 June 13, 2019 5:36 PM BST
With Pink Dogwood having been directed to the Pretty Polly and Mehdaayih another absentee this year's renewal looks well below par than usual eg no Epsom Oaks 1st or 2nd or 2nd fav who'd a torrid race at Epsom.

Manuela De Vega is skipping this too, according to her trainer Beckett. Both she and Antonia De Vega might end up in the Irish Oaks.

ok , i dont think he,ll run 70/30 wont, but the ground will suit him if the going predictions is accurate, and the  5/1 with 365 is massive if he does.
Report elisjohn June 14, 2019 9:30 AM BST
after thinking of this last night, im going now 50/50.i,ll tell you why, they didnt enter him originally for the derby,   i presume the lads didnt think he was as good as he seemed at chester . So maybe they think  there isnt a group 1 for him in uk, therefore they just might see this race a group 2 as suitable .
Report impossible123 June 14, 2019 10:12 AM BST
If you're referring to Sir Dragonet for the King Edward VII I think he's more likely Irish Derby bound at The Curragh given the track and probable ground; AOB had already opined Japan was in the mix for the King Edward VII plus maybe another two (no names mentioned). The betting is indicating that too.

I think Japan could beat AVD in the Irish Derby thus unlikely to deprive AVD of a double Derby accolade.

Fleeting the strong finishing 3rd in the Oaks behind Anapurna and Pink Dogwood has been supplemented for this; backed from 9/2 into 9/4.

ive only been twice to r ascot, but ive  always taken  the week off from work and used to love it watching on bbc with julian wilson presenting, lindley, graham rock, the greatest commentator of them all sir peter, and the lustful eve pollard[ only just found out shes gloria winklemans mum] wonderful days of ardross, marwell, warning,to agori, ,piggott, willie, pat and greville,  henry, vincent, the major, guy,,    have to admit looking back even  claire balding i could  tolerate , but this itv lot has spoilt it for me.

Looks a weak renewal. De Sousa on a 2/1 favourite. Form questionable and already messed up on said horse earlier in the year. Happy to swerve.

Fleeting is the one: She's good credential on Eposm form 1st time over the trip; Coolmore supplementing is another. And, Queen Power needs to improve over 10lbs to win.

So true what you say elisjohn about the terrestrial coverage now. I think what ITV has done to racing is horrible. R.Ascot would sell itself as a sporting highlight of the British summer. BBC did a fine job back in the 80s and 90s.
