No, not yet. Cue Card probably would have won the Charlie Hall had he not fallen. On the other hand I'd agree if you'd said Coneygree would be best retired,...the horse is fragile.

Yes totally agree - should NOT be retired... bar a fall - think he will be in top 3 in Betfair Chase

I agree with The Dragon, he's tipping up too often for comfort now, I'm finding it hard to enjoy his races. I love the horse and think he has done enough, a fabulous servant to stable, owners and fans alike.
He'll never win a Gold Cup now and he's won everything else, so what else is there?
Let him munch polos in a field, a fall like Saturday's could easily end him.

If he falls again in his next race,...a trip to 'specsavers' and/or retire. I think Cue Card could still beat horses like Outlander, Coneygree, Blaklion and Minella Rocco; he was going ok in the Charlie Hall when he fell.

yes but he fell and he keeps on doing it . his jumping used to be impeccable its not anymore ,, any fool can see his time has gone time for the owners and trainers to grow a pair and let him retire gracefuully his fans and the horse deserve it!

Why would you retire the horse when he obviously loves what he's doing. He's still one of the best chasers in training.I wouldn't think its much fun for a horse getting turfed out into a field for the rest of his life. Getting fat and people pushing carrots and polo mints down his throat when he could have another year or two as an elite athlete. He'll be retired,and bored, for long enough when the time comes.

If he gets beaten out of sight then yes, but a fall can happen to any of them.

in t2 camps here still think cue card has a big race in him somewhere ,could be another betfair similar to kauto star when he defied age and expectations to regain it ,on the other hand the jumping is a concern but that last blip was said to be low sun the cause ,dont think connections would let him carry on if he indicated that he was not enjoying it .

Theatre Guide has had many more hard races than Cue Card but still ran a blinder under top weight on Saturday.

Something is hurting the horse. At Ascot last season he looked as if he wanted to down tools and we know he has heart.

No way will I oppose him at Haydock. If he gets well beaten there I might accept that he is on the wane.

Most horses fall, calling out his last 3 runs as evidence on an overall historic line of form is silly.

We want all horses to come home safely and retire at some point but to doubt a horse who races at the top of the game is not right. Its not like he jumps like The Last Fling

Trainer is right to get new jockey .... as he must know this horse works better than the form suggests.

I Think this horse will win ... not 100% but is rather have him than the fave..

Others might not have run to form and/or less suited to condition than BDM nevertheless, BDM looked and was impressive in his win. But I believe it is time to call it a day with Cue Card and retires him; he owes no one anything,...and to run pound for pound with Tea For Two (to quote the remark of Tizzard, post race) is just not the Cue Card we know.

If Cue card could talk, my guess is that he would tell you all to fookoff and leave him alone to get on with his racing!

So what if he's not quite as good as before. He showed today he's still a bloody good racehorse.

But he's no more, or less, a safety risk than any other horse.There are tons of horses older than him still in training and enjoying life. That race today was top level. He was second and had some proper grade 1 horses well behind.

yes burt his record is now 2f2f and beaten 57 lengths by a younger horse, hes 11 now and tgime to celebrate his wonderful career and bow out with grace

His record since his last win in the betfair chase just over a year ago is 21F2F2 so he's won or come second in Grade 1 chases when completing in 4 of those 6 runs. With earnings of £202,000

If I owned him he would go to Lexus Chase, then back to that Ascot race and on to the Gold Cup.

The jury was out at Wetherby but he showed yesterday he has regressed.

looks like tizzard and owners have come to their senses and will retire this wonderful horse after 3 runs in the spring

ONCE BEATEN at Ascot tomorrow, he will be retired, younger legs against him tomorrow in the shape of 3 upcoming chasers and a loon that will try to take them all apart from the get go.

Waiting Patiently will be a popular winner

Only a future superstar got the better of the best 2.5 mile chaser we have seen for a very long time. Hope to see him in the Ryanair.

A majestic run by Cue Card, and with Brennan onboard too. Only beaten by Waiting Patiently who may not be Cheltenham bound. Let's hope he wins the Ryanair, and retires after.

Don't even suggest that Waiting Patiently will miss the Ryanair! My best ante post of the season so far.

Cant believe theyre touting this horse in GC... will struggle to be in top 5...  few runs suggests still has ability... but will always be prone to a few errors ... and younger types...

I think Ryanair is more suitable shorter distance and can get placed...

Neither can I. One minute he'd had his chances in the Gold Cup and sights lowered to eg Ryanair or Aintree Bowl. Now, after a good run against Waiting Patiently over the weekend where Top Notch and Coney Island ran well below par the target has been switched again to the Blue Riband race.

A classic example of not cutting the cloth to suit, I firmly believe.
