Richest 3yo middle distance handicap of the season so thought it deserved a fred!

Had a cursory glance through at the weekend and whilst doubtless many trainers will have plotted a way to the race given the prize money on offer I thought Id try and find something at a price that has been aimed at the race and think I may have found one.

Here And Now, trained by Ralph Beckett, out of his oaks Winner Look Here has some nice form to his name, mainly when running 3rd to last weeks Goodwood listed winner Monarchs Glen (now rated 107) on his first run in a handicap at Kempton earlier this year and, more impressively, beating subsequent Queens Vase winner and St Leger 3rd 118 rated Stradivarious at Chester, albeit in receipt of nearly a stone.
The King George handicap at Royal Ascot was meant to be the next port of call but didnt get in off his rating of 87, then had to miss the Bibury Cup after a setback.
Im prepared to forgive him his next two defeats in slowly run tactical affairs at Chester and then showed what he can do off a strong gallop when running third in the Melrose - the race Adventure Seeker was 2nd in before being pipped in the first running of this in 2014 off a similar handicap mark.
He would have been closer had he not hung across the track and Beckett confirmed afterwards that his next run would be in this race.

Although Beckett hasnt won the race yet, his 4 horses to take part in the 3 runnings of this hugely competitive race reads so far reads:
2014   Cinnilla            3rd 25-1 (rating 85)
2015   She Is No Lady 5th 20-1 (88)
          Argus               6th 9-2.  (89)
2016  Gold Faith         6th 20-1  (86)

Given he didnt race as a two year old I feel there is more to come from Here And Now and is still potentially well handicapped off 91 given his earlier exploits so
the 33-1 at bet356 is too tempting given some are as short as 16-1 and at this stage ,given he is being targeted at the race, is my selection.

Thanks for the heads-up - and great write up. I backed him at York and agree he looks a very juicy price with the sponsors.

1pt e/w @ 33/1.

I also backed at York, step back in trip may be a positive too, definitely worth a bet at 33/1 given that this is a likely target

Cheers Uncle. Still there at the 5 day decs and now best priced 20-1.
One that does bother me is Star Rock but still needs 10 to come out so will hopefully miss the cut.

Just noticed theres a valuable 3yo 14f contest at York on the same day which quite a few of these are entered in, including Star Rock, which stops me getting involved at 16-1.

Not great race planning tbh...

Good shout. Looks a decent bet in a tough race

Taken a bit of the 16s each way available.

It is a tough race MOM and tbh if I hadnt got the big price i dont think i would be playing, certainly not at the best price 12's as there are a good number in this race who could win.

Pat Dobbs will do (landed the Group 2 Park Hill Stakes for the stable last month) and hoping to at least hit the frame.

Glad I didnt back Star Rock who has surprisingly gone to York but think Eynhallow could be overpriced given he looks like this sort of big field will suit.

I think I may play Arab Moon on course as well but it's a tough race I agree

Oh, oh.
Brimham Rocks wins at York for Beckett.
It was entered in the Newmarket competition but came up to York instead. Surely wont do an across the card double. Will he??

Another disappointment. Never got into it though the principals all came stands side off a very strong pace.
No excuses though.Sorry folks.

Considering you put it up at 33/1 nearly 2 weeks in advance I don't think you have any reason to apologise.

I laid off my stake @ 12/1 so no harm done - was very disappointing though.Sad
