They are claiming a reading of 6 is good to soft when every reading below 6.6 in the last 2 years has been soft.

Will good to soft going hinder Big Orange's chance? Evens is very skiing over 2m especially there are several with credible form over this distance and going and better prices too eg Simple Verse and Sheikhzayedroad; the 3yr old Stradivarius could play a lovely tune too given the wfa.

Big Orange crazy short for me. A lot depends on how much the ground drys out but it will surely be on the slow side as temperatures are not expected to be all that high at Goodwood next week so ground will only dry slowly. Much prefer the likes of Higher Power and Simple Verse ew at the prices, assuming ground on slow side which also won't suit Stradivarius or Dal Harraild.

BO has no form on softish going, and could emulate Highland Reel (KG) in the betting. Will anyone back US Army Ranger? Even his trainer is near clueless what optimum trip this Galileo "lad" is.

Going could easily be good by Tuesday afternoon.  Nice drying day today and no rain forecast between now and the race.  Remember the course dries very quickly it being on chalk.

Dry over the last 36 hours ..

dry overnight and the weather today is bright and windy down here in chichester and the same is due tomorrow...wednesday we are due rain...

sun has been shining all day and its windy..going should be nigh on perfect imho

6.6 has previously been considered 'soft' at Goodwood. It has dried to 7.2 but will still be on the slow side. More of a key with Big Orange is whether he will be allowed a soft lead like he was in the Gold Cup or whether more pressure is applied and they go a stronger gallop today.

The going started out good today but was drying out rapidly towards the later races. Was the fast side of good edging towards good to firm by the time of the last couple of races.
