My favourite handicap of the year and a really good field loons likely.

I don't get the love for the favourite Sixties Groove who looks like he wants further and might no get in anyway. He wasn't that unlucky at Ascot to my eyes - just lacked tactical speed.

With Stoutes horses running so well his entrues warrant a close look but he has a few near the head of the market - the betting suggests Ballet Concerto might be his number one, and having lumped on him for the Hunt Cup where the draw scuppered him I can see the appeal, but the trip is an unknown.

I think the big 10f handicap at Ascot won by Snoano is the key and Stoutes Khairaat was a hot favourite for that but faded badly late on. York should suit him much better.

Also in that Ascot race was Dragon Mall who missed the break and was tailed off early before scything his way through in the straight and finishing strongly just behind the placed horse. At 33/1 he is my initial play.

These races all about pace, or lack of, not to mention the draw. I think SG had no chance from the position he was in after a couple of furlongs given there was no pace in the race. Back over 10f on Saturday he will want a solid and true gallop. If he gets it I think he's the most likely winner. If there is a lack of pace he will struggle to pick them up in the straight.

Pleased to find the winner but when you have no pace in the race, it is all about positioning. Wisely, Doyle had BC close to the front. It was impossible for horses coming from behind and wide like SG. You can put a line through that run for him and the likes of Victory Bond.
