Laugh Aloud (3/1 fav) was very impressive in her latest win beating a horse rated 105 in a Group 3. Qemah (4/1) is rated 116 but was gassy in her run at Lingfield when beaten by Mix And Mingle but had Group 1 form last season beating Nemoralia and Alice Springs in the Coronation Stakes; Usherette was 11/10 fav against Alice Springs in the Falmouth but ran no race at all - she is no pushover either.
A good renewal with a highly promising runner against a proven Gp 1 winner.

I thought the South African mare Smart Call ran with promise at York - surely the ground there would n't have been in her favour there?
Slightly disconcerting that she is dropped in trip here - her best SA form looks to be over around 10f although she does have some decent 8f form too. The straight mile is more of a test of stamina I suppose. The other thing that catches the eye is that she's available at about twice the price of Somehow with most of the bookies, yet Ryan Moore is jocked up on Smart Call - I'm not falling for that yet though as I think I've bought a similar dummy from Stoute on a previous occasion. |

Qemah needs to improve in line with wfa and so far there's no evidence she has. She might come on for the run but her trainer sounds more hopeful than confident so not for me at the price. Usherette sets the standard on last year's win and there have been plausible excuses this year with Fabre probably trying to get her to peak today. If he gets her back to her best she won't be easy to beat but her price isn't tempting enough for me. I don't know enough about the South African form so will just have to let Smart Call run and hope she isn't good enough. I think Mix And Mingle's latest win may have been underrated. I have her improving a full stone on anything she'd done before. I know people have said she was favoured by the rail, which is possible, but I reckon more often than not such thinking will put you away more than it's a help. I don't believe the mile will be a problem. I have her just behind Usherette's best form and think she could capitalise if that one isn't back to her best so worth a win and place bet.
