2000 Guineas - EMINENT 40/1 (B 365)

Form of debut win may not amount to much but was visually very impressive when winning his maiden on debut over 1m at Newmarket. If this horse was trained by Gosden or similar I reckon he would be half the price. Trainer Martyn Meade has confirmed the next race for Eminent is the Craven Stakes before the Guineas. Current Guineas favourite Churchill does look unbeatable on all known form and AOB has confirmed he will go straight there. Second favourite is Caravaggio also trained by AOB who hasn't ran a yard over 6f so far and had a setback towards the end of last season. It's 14/1 bar and there's certainly value to be had - I for one am looking forward to seeing Eminent return to the track and 40/1 could be generous after the Craven Stakes.

Epsom Derby - CRACKSMAN 25/1 (B 365)

Another horse who impressed on debut over 1m at Newmarker in his maiden win. Again, form may not amount to much so far, however the 2nd and 3rd home haven't ran again since. Not sure if connections have the Guineas in mind first, but the money has been coming for the Derby over the last couple of weeks.

1,065/1 double ... would be rude not to!

Eminent now best price 33's for the 2000 Guineas - Meade has confirmed that's the plan.

Cracksman now best price 16's for The Derby. Gosden confirmed today he skips the Guineas and will head to Epsom for a Derby Trial - was supplemented for The Derby last Friday.

Surprised Gosden has gone for the Derby trial at Epsom for Cracksman but no doubt it`s all part of the trainer`s grand plan for the horse.

Thanks all. Hoping for a good run tomorrow from Cracksman - although the other Gosden horse looks no mug.

It's good to see a runner entered here with actual prospects of getting to the Derby and it would be nice to see one go on from here and at least run a big race in June. This race has been demoted in status throughout the years with hardly anybody taking it seriously as a trial. However I don't see why it shouldn't be used as a proper stepping stone. The only reason it hasn't produced success is because the better runners heven't been entered. I remember other trials having periods of weak entries until they produced a classic winner and then the following year they were back in fashion, with connections targeting them again.

Maybe Gosden`s getting an early indication if the horse handles the track and if not Chantilly might be the target.Time will tell.

i've had my eye on tartini for a while, interesting he wasn't supplemented for the derby but cracksman was, he must be a poor worker judging by his starting price first time and dettori rode a stable mate in that maiden...of course he may just be an average colt but i'm looking forward to his progress this season...tomorrow should be a good education for both colts

Interestingly - I have done EMINENT and FAIR EVA... I love Frankel connection...

no way near the prices you got Peterson... and I think that is really good bet you got there...

Only concern with ENINENT I actually think he could be more suited to a a DERBY ... based on his running in the craven...

Good luck with your bet though.. .

Thanks Iris! You're absolutely right though regarding Eminent, he may well find it all happening a bit too quick for him in the Guineas and I certainly wouldn't be backing him in a hurry at the current prices available. But I'm hoping he will come on for that run and not many horses go into a Guineas with 2 course and distance wins to their name.
