I am not normally one to get to carried away with betting on Sport Personality of the Year, however I really feel Mo Farah must have a chance of being in the Top 3 if not pushing Andy Murray and Alistair Brownlee very close.
In fact I really cannot understand how Alistair Brownlee can be second favourite if you take into account that they are both Olympic winning gold medallists but look at what Mo has achieved in comparison to Alistair Brownlee. However Mo Farah had another successful Olympics in Rio, winning what is called a "double double", meaning he won both the 5,000m and 10,000m races. He is only the second man to win these twice in a row - and that was despite falling over in the 10,000m race! He is Britain's most successful Olympic track and field athlete of all time AND THE FACT MO MAY NOT MAKE ANOTHER OLYMPICS may might just give him the edge on the other two Murray and Brownlee as they are still going to be around for a good few years to come!!
Can Mo become the first long-distance runner to win Sports Personality of the Year, since Paula Radcliffe in 2002???
Ok Alistair Brownlee became the first man to hold on to the Olympic men's triathlon title in Rio earlier this year but Mo managed to retain both his and has dominated the Worlds and Olympics for a while now!! I think the only reason Mo has drifted is because of his comments on being disappointed to have never been in the TOP 3. I think this year may be different!
Next best is Gareth Bale and in relation to the top 3 in the betting what has I actually achieved on paper himself this year!!!
In my opinion there is value in all the markets right now where Mo is concerned.
I backed Mo last night on the exchanges at 70.00 only for £7.50 as there was not anymore available at that price, I am sure there will be some profit in that come the day. I also think and have had small stakes on Mo in all the other 4 markets.
To hear other peoples thoughts would be great, maybe I am being a bit naïve here but we are all looking for gaps or value in markets!!!!
I do accept that Andy Murray will probably be crowned 2016 champ but its all about value he holds no value to me as I cannot be backing anything at 1.13!!!!!!

always a tricky market to play and i'm afraid farah has just never really taken to the british population like you would think he would do, this year is going to be even harder for him, with all the shenanigans with his coach and if he couldn't do it in the year of the london olympics, it is going to be even tougher for him here imo with so many british born contenders, who have also achieved to a monumental level at the olympics, laura trott and jason kenny even seem unconsidered and chris froome not even quoted, in a very popular sport shows how difficult it is to predict this years event
murray just looks to strong to me but obviously no sweets so its just down to the top 3 markets gareth bale will carry plenty of votes with the whole of wales likely to vote for him so he is solid to pick up a place, he rates a tad of value considering how far he took wales in the euros i know your not keen but what alistair brownlee did for his brother was quite extraordinary and will be applauded by all, however he is way to short like you say...he is difficult to weigh but will surely carry plenty of votes... i will probably just play bale for some fun but trott is a popular character and a proper achiever, who should be placing here, it's just how people vote but you know where the welsh and scottish votes are going which will make it tough on farah to get in the money as always with these popularity events it is always a tough play olly so wish you well with your wager |
