Already backed top 2 in the market - thought if Gosden's horse turned up surely he would be a short price favourite and the same could be send for Wrangler, took 10s on both, although I cant see Wrangler making the cut needs 8 to come out - so if he is balloted out ill get my money back. Out of the two I do fancy Cape Cova by far, only a 3 year old and a very nice weight too and recently won at Doncaster and has the beating of HIGHER POWER. Interesting Tom Quealy is booked on both What about Carlo and Cape Cova so a bit nervous to tip this as may not run, but if he took a chance would be half the price on the off.
Of the outsiders I think William Hunter 25/1, trained by Alan King is interesting so will have a saver on him.
One of my favourite betting Handicaps I have 5 shortlisted at the moment. Gosden has cost be money more than once this Season by pulling his fancied horses out after the five day stage. So although Cape Cova is a possibility, I wouldn't be backing him at this stage.

Was quite liking the look of Eric The Red at 20-1 (reminds me a bit of Gosdens recent winner Charm School) but see its price has collapsed today
Which of the feckers has tipped this one up? Bloody sick of this happening - theres a whole raft of em at it. Its not like they lay much anyway. Grrrrrrrrr.

I doubt there's any significance in Queally riding What About Carlo ( who surely can't win this on quick ground ) Queally very unlikely to do 8-6, whereas no trouble to Nicky Mackay. Cape Cova won here last time with lots in hand imho

Having 29 November hcp race cards to hand one can get bogged down with data. All 12 past 3yo winners finished in first 4 LTO All bar two of the 9 past 4yo winners finished 2nd,3rd or 4th LTO Four of the five 5yo's finished in first two LTO and the two 6yo winners both 3nd LTO EVERY past winner bar two had won in their last 6 races (1982-2015)
The stat buster was Litigant last year - first 7yo & oldest to win in period - (unpl LTO) and a rare Group race runner - and only the second top weight to win.
But that's racing.

LITIGANT 14-1 e.w. rated 4lb higher than last year's win, wouldn't have made any difference then. Don't think different ground will be a problem. No horse has won this twice but others have placed and won the next year. Only thing I don't like is he ran in France only 13 days ago, would have liked to see him kept for this.

3yo's have had a good record with 16 wins in last 34 years. ALL placed in first 4 LTO up until 2007 they won frequently with only 3 - 1 - 1 - 1 - 2 - 1 - 1 gap years when they didn't win.
There has been no 3yo winner in last 8 years
Prize Winner has had 101 day break - the highest days break with last 11 winners is 37 days
Soldier In Action. D and C wins . Trainer has won this twice but with older horses. Has run five 3yo’s , including Party Line CD winner with good form but just one placed 3rd. In top form with it's recent win at Goodwood but carrying 11lb more today.
Cape Cova CD win . Looks to have a good chance. Only concern is dropping back to 12f. Six past 3yo winners ran over further than 12f but only one of them won (Beijing who never ran 12f and started his wins at 13f moving to 14f and 16f before winning Nov Hcp), The record at Doncaster (2 wins and 3rd place) could make the case though and matches Soldier In Action with top ratings (RPR and Speed)
Qassem has a claimer riding - and 63 days off track only 3 past winners with claimer aboard and two of them were 3yo’s (Sabadilla Bottom weight & Flossy 3rd Lowest)
