Thought this horse deserves his own thread.. and waited for decs before posting :)  This is one of my better races that I play in... As I haven't done a thread in a while thought id do this one. :)

There is no better trainer for a big race than Dermot Weld knows how to bring them in for the big occasion as he has done with Harzand in the Derby... ok Derby form not too great - but winning a Derby merits serious respect for a race like the Arc... had a few set hacks and fast ground may be an issue... but I think you can strike a line though the Irish Champion stakes run... and none of the opposition scare me at all.

Think this horse is great value at 7s... and in most recent years with Sea the Stars, Workforce and Golden Horn can add to the historic tally.

Good Luck.

So just to sum up, your argument is
1. Weld is a great trainer
2. Derby form isn't great but the Derby confers magical powers upon its winner
3. had a few setbacks
4. ground an issue
5. ignore poor last run
6.opposition rubbish

Top class analysis there. Well worth starting your own thread for that.

Glad to be of service....
Btw
This is the order
1) opposition not great bar fave
2) won Derby
3) trainer
4) ignore last run

Everything else are the cons....in any order is fine

Good Luck

pros...stepping back up to 1m 4f.
negative is its not epsom....less impressive on flatter tracks.

also horses like us army ranger have run against older at the distance but the last time he ran he got beat by a clear 1m 2f horse whos attempts at 1m 4f have produced victories but against far lower oposition.

that has to knock the derby form v the elders.

maybe leopardstown was down to the break?
think its a bit of all 3 factors.

could run well but id prefer that price on softer ground.
