This looks a duel between Mehmas and Blue Point who was extremely impressive in his last win.

Should both run and Blue Point win convincingly he could be challenging Caravaggio for favouritism in the 2000G next May, I reckon.

Stats say Blue Point

Coolmore are smashing into Intelligence Cross, now 5/2 from 9/2. The same goes for Sword Fighter in the Goodwood Cup, only 5/1 from 8/1.

Blue Point is still in the could be anything category for me, won very easily last time but beat nothing and didn't run especially fast to do so. We'll find out more today but I couldn't take these odds to find out. Mehmas sets the standard on his Coventry run and it's surprising that he's such a big price. Strictly on the July Stakes form Intelligence Cross ought to turn the form around at these weights but I have Mehmas running well below his best there. Possibly a busy early campaign could catch up with Mehmas but if he can hold his form I'd still expect him to finish ahead of Intelligence Cross even with the penalty.

What a run from Mehmas giving 3lbs! At 22/1 here he must warrant a good alternative to Caravaggio in the 2000G.

Connections believe that Mehmas is a 2 yr old i.e he doesn't have the size to be a 3 yr old. He's also likely to be a speedster. The best of him will probably be this year I should think so 22/1 for Gns may not be the value you think it is.

I know you are hoping to learn as quickly as you can, but a word to the wise. If you want the knowledgeable people on here to address your views, try to see the difference between having a lot to say but not saying a lot.Mere verbiage can turn people off.

Sorry. I'm in a grumpy mood.

Sandown

No worries, I'm not easily offended otherwise I'd not be here ie in a public forum.

Horse racing, as we all understand, is about opinions and as such it is something we will never agree all the time. However, I do understand what you are saying but as Mehmas has been entered for the National Stakes at the Curragh over 7f I do hold hopes that he'd go over a mile next season eg 2000G, or he could be campaigned as a sprinter, a chance I'm prepared to take given his gutsy display today; he is no different to Caravaggio, Blue Point or Fair Eva - they all could fall short of the Guineas distance of 8f/- but at 22/1 here I believe it is a price worth taking considering the qualities he's shown so far especially today.

I do not take other posters' views/opinions as gospel and neither do I expect them to do so with mine - this is a game about opinions, nothing more, nothing less. Nevertheless, I'd take their views/opinions into consideration. At 22/1 here I honestly believe is a price worth taking for the 2000G, if one is that way inclined.

Impossible, your passion for racing is nice to see but I think you should take a step back at times and reflect on history. How many times have we seen a precocious 2yo fail to train on or a specific profile fail despite looking impressive?

Saying he is no different to Caravaggio, Fair Eva and Blue Point is far too simplistic a view. Each horse is different and can be knocked from a variety of angles. Mehmas's pedigree is a huge no no with a DI of 3.00, a similar type to Shalaa last season for the same owners. Would you have rushed to back Shalaa last season? Probably, going by your comments above! And where is Shalaa? Injured but the point is the Guineas was never on his radar after the Middle Park.

Caravaggio is dirt bred and has speed in his pedigree whilst Blue Point is out of Shamardal who has a less then impressive record in the Guineas with his progencies. Fair Eva divide opinions on breeding as she really is bred to stay a mile but showed so much speed on visual impressions. Of the four classic contenders it is Fair Eva who'd appeal as a serious Classic contender but is far too short on the bare form.

JamesP and Figgis both expressed doubts on the other thread and very valid doubts too. She didn't perform to what the RPR would think she did. There is a fair chance the "speed" she showed may have been a by product of simply a poor field making her look better then what her ratings would suggest. The point is there's so many pieces to the puzzle with many more cards yet to be played. So breathe, relax and reflect!

cause and effect,

Thank-you for your info and opinions. I do agree a DI of 3.00 is a major concern, and I fully understand your concerns.

Caravaggio and Fair Eva are watching brief until proven further in future proper 2000G/1000G 'prep' races given present short ante-post prices - the value for these two horses are long gone. But that is not to say they will not return post 'victories' in their respective 'prep' 2000G/1000G races.

However, I do not believe this is true regards Mehmas; Mehmas is still a risk (who are not?) but at 22/1 here I honestly believe a run in the 2000G could be a reality especially should/if the principals in the betting do not make it, and a small wager at 22/1 could be astute, I think.

I always believe if something is to be, it will happen no matter what; if it is not then it will not happen no matter what, even in politics eg who'd have thought Boris would be the next Foreign Secretary post Brexit result/political shenanigans after withdrawing from the leadership of the Conservative Party? Odds of 5000/1 or more ie similar to Leicester winning the 2015/2016 Premier League perhaps.
