I'm going to make it into the after timing thread for this.... But I was overseas last week and couldn't post. I cant remember the last time I was that impressed with a horse. Have watched it back a few times and just can't believe how good he was.
I have a feeling that was a decent maiden and he pulverised them. Managed to get some on at 20's and 12' after the race shameless after timing I know) but still think he's a decent price for connections who had the runner up last year. There are only four weeks to go and none of the market principals have come close to that level.
Fingers crossed his form starts to stack up.

Hard to know just how good PF is as his time was slower than both the 2yo fillies race and the handicap but he carried 7lb more than the filly.
The only sectional I could get was passing the 4f pole and PF ran around 1.8s faster for the final 4f than both the other 6f races which makes his overall time look much better. It's a pity we haven't got furlong by furlong sectionals as that would give us a better idea of how good that performance was but certainly looks an exciting prospect. Will be interesting to see what kind of performance he can produce at Ascot on likely faster ground and with a decent pace. GL with your bets. |

I backed him at 10/1 (not aftertiming) after his win, tops 7/1 now. Should have every chance of winning.

For sure Psychedelic Funk has won both his races in good style. Lyons said of after Naas success: "That was nice. I have a few like that and I was mad keen to get them out but I had to bite my tongue for a while until the ground came right. I'm happy with him. I've stopped studying the races and concentrating on my own horses. When I got here I was told Bolger's was a certainty. I said to Colin if you don't win you will the next day and you'll be beaten by a good one. I like him and we let the horses do the talking. If he's the real deal we'll look to the Coventry and try to get a trial in between. He's been doing nothing for the past month but leading others. The good thing about him is his temperament, I like the sire. He'll go for a winners' race and then hopefully his third run will be Ascot."
After his recent win in the Fishery Lane Race - a race won in the past by the likes of Zoffany and Dawn Approach - Lyons said: "We knew we had a nice horse, and I'm delighted with that. He did it the hard way, and he's got a great attitude and a great temperament. The Coventry is beckoning and he will go straight there." However, I would hold fire right now considering Aidan O'Brien’s record in the race. He only has the potentially smart Scat Daddy colt Caravaggio (around 8/1) near the top of the market at the moment and AOB is on record as stating- “He is very fast. If he stays six furlongs, you’d be delighted, but you wouldn’t be sure he’d get it. He finds it very easy to go very fast. Going to Royal Ascot with two-year-olds, we’d always like to have at least two runs in them and he is likely to run at Naas on Wednesday.” That said War Command's first start and winning one was on 7 June over 7f at Leopardstown just 11 days before the Coventry. It would be hard to say how near the top of the early pecking order Caravaggio is but AOB has a handful of unraced colts entered in the Phoenix Stakes, including three War Front’s; I would think there is another one hiding away somewhere just about to debut. Moreover, he has a line through Thomas O'Malley and Edgar Allan Poe (both not overly fancied on debut), and the winning 2yo Ambiguity and unfancied debutante Castle Howard who were beaten easily by the odds-on PF. Keep your gun loaded if you ask me. |

You can pick holes in verything that's run time wise and formwise,would be amazed if there isn't something far better than those seen so far,hannon must be hiding something and O'Brien and Johnston they must have better horses than the ones currently entered..

Maybe so thegigilo but it's four weeks today so any of the lurkers need to be running pretty soon imo.
Was thinking Caravaggio was more of a Norfolk horse myself, so maybe that will be the case with him, and similarly the MJ horse prominent in the betting looks more of a 5f type (forgotten his name!) Concu is still prominent in the betting yet he's confirmed for the Chesham, so looking down the antepost lists the front two still look value. |

Also thegigilo, I might be slightly blinded my bet, but I don think you can pick holes in PF's form yet. Obviously at this stage of the season, very little form will have a very solid look to it, simply because enough horses haven't run from these races, but he beat the very well touted Bolger horse Bean Feasa on debut, the pair miles clear of everything else, and that horse hasn't run again yet. Then he beat Ambiguity who had won previously on debut, and a load of unraraced horses. So while the form hasn't stacked up yet, there don't appear to be any holes in it yet either.
My only worry is that he might struggle to go the early pace.... But the way he finishes his races, if he is anywhere near the leaders at the furlong pole, I think he will be tough to beat. |

Should be a few clues this weekend you would think at the Curragh, also could be a fair 2yo race at York on Sat.
I wonder if we will see PF again before Royal Ascot in that listed race at Naas Dawn Approach won. I'm not that excited by the Coventry stakes yet but that could all change in the next few days. |

Ah right ccm I didn't know that.
You'll be hoping for some form boosts from the 2nd and 3rd then as I see they're possibles to run at the weekend. Of course the 3rd Moritzburg could step up massively from that Naas run given he was held up off the steady early pace and was green, so whether a good run from him would be a boost for the form or not I don't know. I don't really bet ante-post myself so may pop back on here on the day if I fancy anything. |

Yes hoping to see the Bolger horse win well next time mate, and the unraced horses from his last race could all be anything I suppose. Be nice if a couple went in.
Will also be hoping there aren't any new pretenders coming out of the woodwork in the next couple of weeks. Get to the end of May and I think it would be quite likely that we would have seen nearly all potential opponents. Cheers |

PF down to go at Naas on Sunday.
Amongst opponents is Hakeem, who was 2nd to Global Applause first time and then won easily at Nottingham. And Lundy who was 2nd to Caravaggio fto and then nice winner at Leopardstown. So should be an informative contest |

Evening Stevie. Yes big day tomorrow. Should help tie in a few form lines and could be near enough fav if he wins well. I do think the disparity between him and Carravaggio is currently a bit big tbh.

Psychedelic Funk is set to head straight to Royal Ascot after missing an engagement at Naas on Sunday.
The Choisir colt made a big impression in winning his first two starts at the County Kildare circuit and he was declared to bid for the hat-trick in the Listed Rochestown Stakes. However, trainer Ger Lyons decided to take him out on the morning of the race due to a high temperature and he will now be saved for Ascot, where the Coventry Stakes looks his likely target. "I took a temperature, it was nothing serious, but enough to dissuade me from running (at Naas)," Lyons told At The Races. "There was everything to lose and nothing to gain - two weeks away is the most important date and that's what we'll keep him for. "He's the best we've had at this stage. He's very straightforward and when Aidan (O'Brien) comes up to you and is high on him, you know you've a nice colt." |

i find the breeding of caravaggio awfully odd for coolmore . and i think that speaks volumes ragading the horses talent

regarding ,miss spell , he also beat the form guide , ambiguity ( caravaggio) much easier than p. funk imo

ambiguity also had more experience on his third run compared to caravagggios only second so i would be very suprised if pf can beat him

This race is as tricky as the St James's Palace Stake eg three key runners with form to boot.
