Been looking out for any news on the exciting colt Vancouver.

Gai Waterhouse was in no doubt that he is world-class. The Medaglia d’Oro colt made his way to Ballydoyle sometime in January in order to give him plenty of time for preparation for Royal Ascot and proving himself on the international stage, with a view to possible dual-hemisphere stud duties with Coolmore.

Vancouver is expected to make his northern hemisphere debut in the Greenland Stakes on May 21 at The Curragh off a ‘4yo’ weight, where he is likely to come up against Strath Burn, who Charles Hills made a point of reminding people about after Magical Memory’s win in the Duke of York, before his main target the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot, and then it is on to the July Cup at Newmarket.

Have a look at this recent Coolmore video- http://coolmore.com/australia/coolmore-tv/ . It sounds like he has made an immediate impression.
“I think this fellow is by far and away the best horse we’ve had from Australia,” O’Brien said. “He ticks all the boxes and he’s probably the most exciting we’ve had.” That’s an astonishing claim in already ranking him ahead of So You Think, the dual Cox Plate winner, who managed to win another five Group 1 races in Europe after joining his stable in 2011!

I think it’s time to fill yer boots. I have taken 16’s with Totey for the DJ (I tried to take the 20’s with Lads but with no avail) and 20’s for the JC on here.

Radio interview with Coolmore Australia GM Michael Kirwan on 18th May concerning Vancouver's progress

Vancouver Set For Irish Debut This Saturday
May 19, 2016
breedingracing.com Coolmore Australia's General Manager Michael Kirwan has revealed that former champion Australian 2YO Vancouver is likely to make his northern hemisphere debut in the Gr2 Greenland Stakes (1200m) at The Curragh on Saturday, reports Racing.com. Speaking to Melbourne's Radio Sport National yesterday, Kirwan said the Golden Slipper winner had impressed trainer Aidan O'Brien since arriving at Ballydoyle and that the Coolmore team would be using Saturday's race as hopefully a lead-up to Royal Ascot next month. Vancouver holds a host of big race entries including the Gr1 King's Stand Stakes and Gr1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes at the Royal meeting, but O'Brien admits time is against the 4YO (Vancouver is deemed a 4YO in the northern hemisphere) who has only been at Ballydoyle for about two months. "He hasn't been in Ireland that long with Aidan...he needs a guide on the horse before he heads to Royal Ascot," Kirwan said. "As far as I know the horse is going very well, [Aidan's] very happy with him, so fingers crossed. He's showing a lot of speed, [which is] something that Aidan probably hasn't trained an awful lot of." Kirwan added: "He's very excited about this horse, he's doing exactly what we think he is capable of doing." Vancouver (Medaglia d'Oro-Skates, by Danehill) was transferred from Gai Waterhouse to Coolmore's world famous Ballydoyle stables to pursue a northern hemisphere career and, hopefully, to secure his future as an international stallion. The 3YO was purchased by a syndicate headed by Coolmore Stud for a reported $40 million following his victory in last year's Gr1 Golden Slipper, making him the most expensive Slipper winner ever sold to stud.

Oh the perils of ante-post betting. ExcitedCry

VANCOUVER, who had been as short as 10-1 for the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot, will miss the race after connections decided not to persevere with plans to run last year's Group 1 Golden Slipper winner against the best sprinters in Europe this season.

Instead, the Coolmore-owned sprinter will embark on a career at stud in his native Australia, having failed to make the track for Aidan O'Brien.

Formerly trained by Gai Waterhouse in Sydney, Vancouver was due to make his debut for O'Brien in the Group 2 Greenlands Stakes at the Curragh on May 21, but was ruled out of the race with an unsatisfactory blood picture and that setback has ultimately cost him a chance of competing in Europe.

"His bloods failed to improve as quickly as we might have hoped so he missed more work last week and this week," said O'Brien. "Unfortunately we've now run out of time to get him ready for the Diamond Jubilee and the July Cup.

"It's very disappointing as he looked very special on what we'd seen of him at home and we were looking forward to running him."

Heading home

Outlining plans for  his new career at stud, Coolmore Australia's Tom Magnier said: "It's a major disappointment that Vancouver won't be running at Royal Ascot but he is proving very popular with breeders so we're keen to get him here as soon as possible.

"He'll enter quarantine in Newmarket next week and will be on the farm here in Coolmore Australia by mid-July."

bGIGot-

This is a perfect exemplar and advertisement of racist trolling. I noticed you also rub somebody's nose in it on the Oaks topic for laying Minding, shortly after her win- despicable.

vancouver simply didnt train on...........gai gave him a run as a 3 year old and he got beat in a poor race........sent him to ireland and he obviously has not been working well........coolmore have made some big purchses down under of horses in training and there have been some major flops........this is one of them.........unless he proves himself at stud!
