Just put up the Swinton thread so in for a penny...

This will be much briefer. Outer Space 33-1 for Jamie Osbourne. Bloody frustrating type and goes into the notebook every time he runs on the A/W but does have some very good 7f turf form from last season and a big field like this could just be what he needs.
Had a lovely pipe-opener the other day, stable going well and whilst it looks like Jamie Spencer (who was on board for his last win) is going to Haydock will hopefully get the balls of steel ride from someone else to see him hit the frame at least or maybe even win.
A revitalised Bertiewhittle good go well at a big price too.

GL all.

Can't say I fancy Outer Space though Jamie Osborne has a fair record in these big Ascot handicaps.

Bow and Arrow @ 20/1 would be my initial pick but I will wait for decs and draw.

Rivellino has run well in plenty of top 6f h'caps and might be worth a look.

BUCKSTAY with Jamie on board. Bit of weight though but do like this horse.
Report Madhu May 4, 2016 9:36 PM BST
I think the lightly raced four-year-old gelding  Predominance stands out trends wise- good recent form, OR weight range ( 90 – 97), carrying less than 9 stone, age 4 or 5, hold-up horse. Also William Haggas has his string in good order. Although suited to some give in the ground he might be alright on the likely faster conditions given his full brother Birdman acted on any ground and won three races on good to firm. Good luck.

Poo

Outer Space has missed the cut. Back to the drawing board!!

Should really back Buckstay as he did me a couple of favours last year but just wonder if his mark is too high now?

Okay, gonna take a flyer on Related

A respectable 4th in last years Wokingham and Bunbury Cup and now with Paul Midgely who has shown what he can do with cast offs such as Desert Law and Monsier Joe.

Ok, hasnt shown a great deal in 2 runs for him though soft ground was probably to blame last time at Ponty. Could also be the Rabbit for the hounds (particulaly Buckstay who I might just back as well at 16-1)stuck right up against the rail but like the booking of Quealy and e/w at 40-1 5 places has to be good value to hit the frame as he does keep battling once headed.

Buckstay at 16/1 will do for me.

Rivellino @ 40/1 for me.

See where youre coming from Knot In Wood.

His Sandown win couldnt have worked out any better and on balance this ground should suit better than his reappearance so he's my saver at 12's. Good luck.

Midgley's 0-68 this year must be a slight concern.

Backed Grand Inquisitor and Emell each way.

Betilyerded,

14.20     Outer Space           Outer Space doesn't win too often and he's a victim of his own consistency. That said, this looks a bit weaker than the race's he's been in of late and as long as there are no bad luck stories in-running then he'll have an excellent chance to take this. Ryan in the saddle is a big plus. J.Osbourne
Report IrisDeBalme May 7, 2016 11:34 AM BST
Funny enough Bertil - totally agree with you with RELATED his handicap form is definitely each way material - low draw and weight and 50's is really appealing...

Minefield of a race, with plenty of lady required in the run.

The one that interests me is THE WARRIOR.

Ballydoyle discard, green as grass as a 3yr old,AP employed ryan moore on his comeback run at lingfield, where he stayed on nicely for his pipe opener.

The trainer 0/26 at the track is negative, but has her go to jockey on today, around 25/1 a small ew play, whatever happens today he might be worth keeping onside for the future.

GL ALL

i am always drawn to the horses drawn higher over 7f at ascot for some reason. Backed squats, crazy chic and Majestic Moon Good luck

brutal

i quite liked grand inquisitor for this just not quite sure he has the speed so regrettably i've passed him over but a nice pot is in him, i don't get the angle with outback traveller who has proved a nasty piece of work betting wise for me he will probably continue to dangle the carrot the trouble is we never get fed

i have struggled to get my head round it but think a speculative bet on mutawathea is worth a chance with a decent claimer up, the claimer should negate the rise he has had and he should be very fit from the dirt track, my only worry is, is he is an off track horse but he has got some straight track form

Related went off like a scolded cat - looks like one for a big York summer handicap for Midgeley when he is back in form.
Looks like a race that will throw up loads of future winners.

Outback Traveller for the Wokingham ?
Grand Inquisitor for the Hunt Cup?

Lucky me - Didnt see Outer Space was entered up at Lingfield. Stupid mistake as I thought he had missed the cut when he actually hadnt been declared for Ascot so I lost my dosh!
Just as well as I would probably have chased mt losses. Still think he has a big field turf handicap in him though.

Pretty bad day all in all.

WP Winners

The Warrior.....2nd last at the 3f pole, finnished just outside the frame, head carriage still high,no surprise to see some sort of headgear, they like to target the goodwood meeting for winners,he just might be stewards cup or similar.

Earth Drummer.....another held up out the back, minimal effort until race over, very capable off current mark, finnished arguably best of the lot, notebook material.

Decent time faster than standard, lets hope a few highlighted can repay the faith.

Buckstay and Jamie will get it right , in one of the big handicaps this season.Cool

Nocturnal,if a horse has a high head carriage, they tend to not generally like going downhill at Goodwood!?.
Report unclepuncle May 9, 2016 8:45 PM BST
Earth Drummer definitely in the notebook for the Hunt Cup - hopefully get double carpet or bigger.

Pretty crap forecasting-Now that Godolphin are (apparently) focussing their efforts on the all weather and handicaps they are the ones to follow  around Chelmsford City and Wolverhampton Doubt whether they will be winning any group races at York this week.

Pipedreamer........ I would agree with that, hence the question mark over headgear, and the possibility he still needs more experience, still think theres a fair bit more to come.
