Got this race terribly wrong last year so gonna try and make amends.

Skelton looks like having the fav in Chtibello and can see why. Was a good winner at Ayr last time in what was probably a better race than this. He was at pains to point out afterwards that they knew he was very well handicapped on his form with Altior and had saved him for the race.
Given his comments Im not sure a 6lb rise can stop him but its actually his other entry that catches my eye - Swansea Mile.
This one also had good form with the top novice at the time Maputo (who also has form tied into Altior)and according to Skelton in the Post Tour at the start of the season "has been put away till the spring for a big handicap ..something like the Swinton or Scottish Champion hurdle".
This one easily won a novice hurdle on his return and hasnt had his mark raised so that couldnt have worked out better. Is available at 14's and whilst Harry Skelton is already jocked up on his other one Im willing to take a chance at the prices.

Of the others John Constable has to be of interest given how well regarded he is and his trainers record in the race and I would also have been quite keen on Gran Maestro who ran well off a similar layoff last season before being laid out for the Summer Plate at MR. My concern is that he has recently had a wind op which according to the Dr  "has put them back a couple of weeks" so there is a chance he could need it.
I do, however, like the look of Peter Bowens Curious Carlos who ran well for a long way on his return in a very competitive handicap at Aintree before winning well at Chepstow in a first time hood, settling much better and looking like a horse going places. He will travel well in a race like this and he is my other selection at 20-1

Good luck all.

Well no Gran Maestro nor Curious Carlos and Swansea Mile now available at 20's so Ive gone in again.

Plenty of support for John Constable this afternoon which worries me given the trainers record in the race. Otherwise looks a wide open affair.

Potential for this to be run at a crawl.
In the hope that Johnson recognises this and goes forward early it's Wait For Me for me

No Cardinal Walter either - really fancied this in a big way and nearly went in after Henderson won the Chester Cup, but fortunately I held firm until the final decs.

Wait For Me is the most promising horse in the race by a mile, but I worry he will find it all happening a bit too quick round this sharp track on fastish ground especially if his jumping isn't great. He's not a bad price at just over 6/1 though so will have a little saver.

Looking for some value I have ended up with Apterix but want 25/1+ (only around 20/1 in the early day of race market) so haven't backed him yet.
