Marcel scratched according to Betfair and RP but still featuring in every bookies list except Ladddies acc. to Oddschecker...v poor

Speed on dam's side..always looked a doubtful stayer on pedigree

Because a horse can still be supplemented bookies can put any three year old entire colt or filly in their Derby antepost lists.

The bookies will not hesitate to take money off any uninformed or savvy punter given the chance;  I think Marcel is also more likely to go for the French Derby as hinted by his trainer.

take your point kincsem but would argue that it is still duplicitous if the horse was entered and then is taken out..chance of it being supplemented 6 weeks after being scratched must be remote

2003: Kris Kin was the first Derby winner to be supplemented for the race.
Although he was included in the original entry, he was withdrawn at the end of his two-year-old
career before being added back into the field at a cost of £90,000 a few days before the race.

It can happen.  Personally I'd rather they left them all in.  It's up to us to get our sh1t together, BF removing horses from a/p markets has been the worst thing that's happened on this site in the last few years and there's been some stiff competition.

think he must have been harry cos i laid him and then bets were 'settled' at entry stage few weeks ago (when i presume he must have been scratched)

MARCEL arrived with only a Newcastle maiden success to his name, but his trainer´s previous winner of this, Authorized, had a similar profile in 2006 (this race was run at Newbury that year). Held up at the back, he swept past the field to lead and ran on nicely despite edging to the stands´ rail, Andrea Atzeni (winning this for the third year in a row) not having to get too serious with him. Said to have developed physically since Newcastle, he´s a good-looking and classy colt but his breeding gives doubts over his effectiveness at 1m4f and he doesn´t hold an entry at Epsom. He´s entitled to make an even better 3yo.

the racing post write up after racing post trophy

Authorized was more of a stayer than Marcel is. You can´t compare them but this horse has won a Group 1 so let´s go forward. I´d love to think he would be a Derby horse but realistically I would say he is probably more of a French Derby horse - Peter Chapple-Hyam, trainer.

make what you will but unless there is an entry stage after this event i doubt they would of stumped the money up just to pull him out without a run

pete the bloke may know the answer to this

So was Marcel initially in the Derby or not? If the rain arrives he could be quite an interesting player along with Galileo Gold.
