Anyone work out what exactly this chart means in terms of current going?

hope you're right about the rain john...would certainly bring in Mullins horse Max Dynamite although it would have to put some down for that to win.

I'm against the Japanese fav so any rain is good news for me...keep those charts coming...cheers.

24 GUST OF WIND             Chad Schofield             19    51kg

Backed Almoonqith at 20-1 EW after his Geelong Cup win and happy with him getting barrier 10. He impressed me with the way he shot clear off a fast pace last time, which was very much like his win at Meydan last February. Still unexposed at staying trips, he has had the normal Australian prep for this race and looks like a horse that is peaking at the right time. His trainer has won the race before for Hamdan Al Maktoum as well.

With rain around I also backed Gust Of Wind EW at 33-1, she beat Winx earlier on in the year by a couple of lengths and ran a pretty good race in the Caulfield Cup on a track which wouldn't have played to her strengths. Flemington will suit a lot better than Caulfield and her trainer seems pretty bullish that she will improve stepping up in trip. More rain the better for her, New Zealand bred horses seems to like it when it gets wet!

Fame Game has got a good draw and will love the track, he is undefeated at Tokyo which is similar to Flemington. Worthy favorite and will take all the beating but current price is a bit short for me and if the track gets any more rain it will be a big negative IMO.

Decent draw for Ed Dunlop's pair. 16 is ok for Snow Sky. I thought he was unlucky in the Caulfield Cup - got squeezed out turning for home before then staying on. Those would be my 3 against the field. Bauer, Purple Moon, Red Cadeaux all unlucky 2nds for me in this, but good place returns all the same. Long overdue an English-trained winner.

Trip To Paris for me
Report SoYouThink November 1, 2015 8:51 PM GMT
Does Grand Marshal seem overpriced at 50/1? The one time he has run over two miles, he came from a long way back to win the Sydney Cup. A few prep races over shorter trips before flying home from a long way back in the Caulfield Cup - unlucky in the last half a furlong. I love when there's a story attached to the winner of these big races and Jim Cassidy who won the race in 1983 retiring after it, that would be a fairytale ending.

Bondi Beach also seems ideal for the race. Youngest horse but unexposed, seems so much more like Mahler, O'Brien's best runner as opposed to **** or Septimus.

Fame Game surely way too short, finished the Caulfield Cup no better than Grand Marshal, one is 50/1, the other 3/1 yet they meet on the same terms. Looking at his form, certainly nothing special in Japan.

On Max Dynamite....fine run in the Northumberland and I was wite taken with his Lonsdale win where he just swept by the Cumani and really put him in his place....dont think Mullins would've sent him if he wasn't up to the required class.

Will have a look at The Offer again later....was impressed with his Sydney Cup win last year and Gai had him absolutely laid out for the Cup before he was withdrawn.

Not really a backer on the Flat as I'm not very good at it.  However, apart from a wide draw I just don't see why Bondi Beach is 25/1.  Seems massive to me?  What am I not getting?  Form seems rock solid and can't get my head around why he's such a big price.  Have also backed Max Dynamite as looks like an improved performer and don't think Willie taking him their for the sake of it.

Anyone have a reliable live webstream for the MC tomorrow morning? Many thanks in advance.

With luck in running I would expect Max Dynamite to go close. Disappointing its not being shown live here.

You can watch the race live online at racing.com for free. All you have to do is register with them!

Rubbish news that ATR will not be showing the race live.

Im liking the look of Gust Of Wind

Hard to tell how the horse would take 2 miles but the style of her win April this year over 1m4f beating Winx looks very good.

There is talk in Australia that Winx could be something special and potentially globetrotting next year for top prizes - and one could argue that they have been trainng the horse with this race in mind since april.

i think she is overpriced at 33/1

Does anyone know if Secret Number was balloted out of the Melbourne Cup or simply taken out so a non runner?  ...if it was balloted out then should ante post stakes be returned?? ...my bet is showing as a loser!! ..thanks in advance for any guidance.

Sorry for the daft question, but is Ryan Moore not riding any of the Coolmore runners because he can't do the weight?

That is correct CCM

They really did crawl. Feared it was one too many MCs for Red Cadeaux. Just hope they can save him.

Gust of Wind would have gone very close if Frankie hadn't interfered with him and battered him twice. Good spot by those who called him out.
Report johnnyrant November 3, 2015 2:14 PM GMT
Yep, really unlucky run for Gust Of Wind. I got her over 40 for the win and 12 a place. C'est la vie!
Report HaylingBilly November 3, 2015 3:13 PM GMT
I reckon Frankie owes you a drink…………..or at least a pizza !!
Report MrDinos November 3, 2015 4:14 PM GMT
Pretty gutted with Gust Of Wind, everything conspired against her. Slow pace, bad draw and then Dettori's dodgy riding, causing chaos for a few runners. He rode an awful race IMO and I would have been totally peed off if I was a Max Dynamite backer. Cry

GOW is only 4 so she could be back for another crack next year, loved the way she finished the race when nothing else from off the pace got into it!
Report BornToWin November 3, 2015 9:50 PM GMT
The slow gallop did for a few, Trip To Paris being one. Staying power didn't count in the sprint finish.
