correction - b365 keep place terms as per time placed (they advised otherwise via their CS but found it in their rules)

All firms keep the place terms when an AP bet is struck - its the AP rules so is an error if u av been told otherwise imvho

Sometimes in the past when there has been obvious doubt about the participiation of certain runners (espeically fnacied ones) which would affect the field size some bookies will make a stipulation about the e/w terms in their antepost betting eg. '1/5 odds 1,2,3 unless less than 8 runers, then 1/4 odds 1,2', but I haven't seen that for a while. |

Betfair sportsbook told me they'd change the place terms- hard to believe but they were very firm about it.

If that is true then that is utterly disgraceful.

I reckon the person I spoke to was incompetent but there is nothing in the rules stating the place terms are fixed for ante post betting at the time the bet was struck. Unless i missed it!

Pointless thread.
Only firm that might operate this way are closed to all of us and more than likely it was just an incompetent employee who doesn't understand the questions. |

From my reading about betting antepost in the old, old, old days if the number of runners changes that does not affect the term of the bet.
What this should mean is if you placed a bet each-way on the Derby and only three horses take part, and yours is one of them then you win your place bet automatically. The fact that there are less than eight runners does not reduce the place payout to two horses, and the fact that are only three runners (less than five) does not cancel your place win. Your bet was on the antepost field, not on the field that took part. |
