Think his last few runs tells you a lot about this horse - needs a bit of luck in running, but considering his last race at Ascot, this horse was cruising but still needed a lot of luck to nod it on the line.  This horse is class through and through but will be a few heart in the mouth moments in the last few furlongs.  The same can be said when he ran in the Ayr Gold Cup... could have actually won that race... so that's its self is the ponderable especially if Jamie Spencer rides... but as he as proved - is the best jockey (at Ascot) when he gets it right,

But I think the horse is stronger over further and is still on a good mark, so at 10/1 is good value.. I hope he turns up for this as I think he has an outstanding chance.

Good Luck

I love this horse, followed him all season along with Ducth Masterpiece and was so pleasing that they both won on the same day recently - deserved successes

Just looked at current list of runners again. Some old favourites that all have a chance. But have to say 10/1 about Buckstay is very tempting. Sure to be much shorter if he runs. Hope Jamie gets the ride. Both horse and jockey are very good on the track !

Just pray the curse of Pricewise doesn't visit us !

Think Withernsea is a massive runner in this. Had a relatively light season (plenty of rivals have been on the go for a while) and will just creep in at the bottom. His 2nd in a big handicap in Ireland last time, when given plenty to do, was his best to date and now shapes as though the mile is within his range. Seemingly a dry week so should be good ground which is ideal for him given he is stepping up in trip. Now all we need is Adam Beschizza to be booked and we're away!

Not having Spencer is a massive loss for Buckstay imo. Enough to make me look elsewhere.

Surprised withernsea wasn't declared? Unlucky with that one.

Yeah, would have preferred Spencer on Buckstay, but Crowley has ridden the horse a number of times
- including one win, and two seconds ( photo finishes). So hopefully ok.

Yes agree - was a bit disappointed to see Spencer on Halation.. and not Buckstay, but he is a decent horse in his own right and ascot certainly suits... with this horse its always about timing... in the way he finishes so fingers crossed...

Saver on Buckstay but main bet on Donncha @ 33/1

With Man of Harlech not getting in I've switched to Empire Storm. Solid course form and with no assured front runner on far side where 'players' are, can see a positive ride winning this

Merry Me has been running well without winning now down to a nice mark he will do for me think Donncha a big danger

Was Withernsea declared actually but balloted out?
Report FELTFAIR October 17, 2015 10:27 AM BST

Benjy, Withernsea was balloted so money returned. When I posted last weekend I presumed it was a Hunt Cup size field and the decision to make it a 20 max caught me (and plenty of others including some trainers)by surprise.

Donncha must have made up 6-8 lengths in the last furlong,Cry

Another big field handicap ruined by a farcical slow pace favouring the leader.Plain

bit surprised with how badly Buckstay ran ... but it seemed so easy for the winner... sometimes not sure whether some jockeys/connections are actually that sharp when it comes to tactics...
Report lead on October 17, 2015 9:22 PM BST
GM Hopkins' jockey certainly not very sharp todaySad

Yep. They allowed the winner too much rope. All caught napping.
And It being a Pricewise tip that actual won, just rubs salt in the wound.
