The most eagerly awaited race of the year for me, and after the Toast got burnt last year (Yes, I was on... at 20/1) I feel this is the year for Coolmore; so have had a decent wedge on Gleneagles at 12/1.

Frosted @ 16/1 looks good value to me.

Important to know if Liam's Map will run.

If he does then Keen Ice will get a lovely pace to run into too....same with Honor Code who I wouldn't entirely give up on after his defeat on the weekend...didn't handle the slop and was just left to make his own way home

A return to hold up tactics would also bring Frosted into the equation too.

I originally like Beholder but she's awfully short now...same with the Pharoah...not sure why anyone would back him with potentially being pace compromised again and this time by a take no prisoners older horse.

Also need to check to see what Keenland do with their track....first breeders cup with the new dirt track...will it get the special souped up to the max treatment? In which case the front runners / those close to the pace may not come back...shorter run in than usual too.

Only issue with gleneagles...will Aidan chance another Galileo on dirt?

Also while I'm on him...just be careful of the weather...it can ran quite badly in Keenland this time of the year...remember WiseDan getting beat when the racing got switched to the polyttrack because of the rain and lightning.

Liam's Map reverts to the mile so American Pharoah will have the chance to dictate proceedings.

I am heading to the Breeders Cup and have been weather watching, unfortunately seems like rain is expected for the early part of the week and so am a little concerned about some of the prospective firm ground horses.
As for the Classic, this to me looks like an absolute stonker of a wager for me with Beholder, been amazed by the mare this year and think that her high cruising speed will stand her in good stead tracking the Pharoah and getting first run on the closers - Honor Code and Tonalist.
I am not a fan of the 3 yr olds this year and whilst i admire what Pharoah did, I cannot be confident that he will show his colors against the older brigade, his task has been made easier with the defection of Liams Map (who coincidentally will win the dirt mile by 10 minutes!)
There are a large number of horses in this race dependent on a fast pace, Keen Ice, Tonalist, Honor Code, Texas Red - I just cannot see the race panning out for these horses without Liams Map and more surprisingly Moreno who always seems to run in these G1's but appears to have not been entered.
I personally would not have Gleneagles on my mind unproven on dirt and will not even factor him into my thoughts, Frosted CANNOT beat the Phaorah on anything that has happened previous so he too is easily dismissed though it was nice to see him finally punch through in Philly.
FWIW - I think Pharoah leads easy with Beholder in behind, I think she cruises through the race (similar to the pacific classic-Watch on you tube if you haven't already) and beats Pharoah, I really cannot see anything else getting into the race.
Whatever happens, let's hope for a clean race, no funny business at the start (Shared Belief and Bayern and Toast Of New York!) and let's hope they all come back safe.
-me too :)  I cannot wait, am also going to be visiting Lane's End Farm and looking forward to visiting Candy Ride and Quality Road - 2 old favorites ! :) Good luck everybody.
(These are just my personal thoughts, so please do not let me put you off your own fancies!@)

i knew you was a blue nose Wink

tbf some of our fans are a bit off the mark.
not being able to cope with other peoples opinions on the game and resorting to abuse on their own...big no no.

still amazed few saw how poor rodgers was as a manager from the world go....reminded me of ozzie ardilles at spurs in his stint there.
all attack and no defence.
when luis went he had to try to change it and was always gonna fail.

think klopp will need time because of the mentality of a lot of our players.
on the continent now if you cant work hard and do the basics very well you have no chance of making it.

we have a few too many who fall into that category......

similar principles to our non polytrack all weather scene.
if you understand the basics you have half a foot in in understanding how dirt racing works.

dont follow ours nowadays but was a very keen follower back in the early days so think i picked up a few tips.

re the turf horses....ours have improved past theirs in the last decade.

think its a great spectacle and one in which the europeans do very well in so amazed people think we do our blx on it.
the dirt races you have to be a bit careful on....for instance wouldnt touch gleneagles in the classic but can understand why people would have backed ravens pass a few years ago...

I might be a romantic but great to see the European horses are mostly going to run lasix free. Really applaud John Gosden and Andre Fabre who I always had a large amount of respect for but even more so now. Am such a massive fan of GH and would really taint my view if he was racing on lasix. Hopefully he wins well to cap off an amazing season.

Beholder out of the classic. American Pharoah best price 11/10
Report harry callaghan October 29, 2015 4:15 PM GMT
real shame about the mare - they drilled her over 5 furlongs yesterday in what i thought was a fast work...anyway shame for the race and for the filly

american pharoah really is going to get it easy on the lead here... i can't really find a spoiler in the party and a lot of the runners are deep closers unless frosted decides to take him on again, which i can't see happening after being broken in the stretch in there last meeting...

this really does look like an easy trip for the good horse, for those who are taking the odds the only worry would be he hasn't prepped and personally i would of like to of seen his well being before taking such a price...like i say it looks like he will get it very easy on the front end, which is a shame as there are angles to play in this race but without a horse to keep him honest on the front end it isn't going to be easy to get him tendered up for the stretch...there are some really good closers here, just will they get the hard fractions they need to get american pharoah at it, i'm convinced they won't and tonalist, keen ice and honour are actually deep closing types

much to ponder
Report Shiekh Me Hand October 29, 2015 5:18 PM GMT
I am gutted, thought I had it there with the mare.

Pharoah is now a cinch.

Frosted and Godolphin will surely not employ the same tactics as per the Belmont as they know that they did not work. I can actually see the Pharoah getting the first in around 25 sces and the half in about 50...which if it does, it wins by 10 minutes.

What a shame that the race is going to end up like this.
Report layingisthewayforward October 29, 2015 7:10 PM GMT
Maybe Godolphin will be happy to employ the same tactics if they think they can get the fav beat and get one over on their old rivals.

Baffert unimpressed as rider lets Pharoah loose

TENSIONS surfaced around American Pharoah's final preparation for the Breeders' Cup Classic on Thursday as the Triple Crown winner took on an aggressive demeanour as he stepped out for his first exercise at Keeneland.

Though the rain of the first half of the week had moved on to let the sun out and the sodden track dry under a brisk breeze, trainer Bob Baffert's mood had darkened by the end of American Pharoah's spin.

The colt was full of himself as he covered two and a half laps of the Polytrack training circuit but when it was over Baffert was overheard reprimanding exercise rider Georgie Alvarez for going "too far and too fast".

American Pharoah had looked ready to work on Wednesday when saddled up and mounted, but after Baffert's arrival was delayed by a puncture the colt was confined to walking his barn.
