no one could argue how well that ascot race is working out from last year knot in wood but he has struggled off his current mark...the trainer is back in better form now however, so although he has struggled this season it isn't out the question he could bounce back to form, although he hasn't shown me enough to suggest a big race like this could come his way, though he hasn't really been knocked about so far this season...better ground and maybe some headgear might change my view but despite my reservations i wouldn't put you off your wager as a nice race is in him... i haven't had a chance to go through all the runners yet bit early for me

just taking a risk on the ground making the difference harry, remember varian stating he did not want to run the horse on soft ground earlier in the year.
fancy he will be a single figure price come saturday if we have a dry week. best of luck with your fancy. |

Agree with OP. Been watching the weather forecast closely. Doesn't look like much rain around whatsoever, & with likes of Limato aiming for the Sprint surely Cartright surely won't get his watering can out. Battersea has a big staying handicap in him as long as going is quick. Fingers crossed.

Going to wait for decs tomorrow but looking at a couple at fairly big prices here at this stage.

I have a sneaky feeling Polarisation wont run so will keep my faith with Notarised 16/1 and Blue Wave 14/1 not sure which will turn up but Johnston horses are so hard to predict!

Backed Battersea ante-p for the Ebor (25s ew) money back as he was balloted out of the race, which prob save me ££ as the ground at York was iffy.
Granted a dry week & g/f ground come Sat i will be with him again, gd luck with your 14s play ![]() |

Looks like IDB was right about Polarisation...

good to soft at Haydock
Really hope it drys out enough for Battersea but Limato coming out of the Sprint suggests it won't get anywhere close to quick ground. |
By:
Shortlist of two at the moment :-
High Secret Pressure Point |
By:
i agree facts have bet both but hope it isnt too soft for pressure point
By:
Really like Totalize here. Am hoping if the exchange stays quite enough we can get few bookies to go out to 25s.
By:
Backed High Secret. Because of the going, I've sided with Gabriel's Star too.
By:
On High Secret too. Expect Battersea will be withdrawn given the slow times at Haydock today. Ground not drying out fast enough

Battersea taken out already. Unlucky antepost backers
By:
the perils of ante post betting, should have known better trusting tellwrights good going prediction earlier in the week.best of luck with your selections. |
By:
battersea pulled out with a cut leg,not because of the ground.

Bad luck

Im with Totalize too Benjy, especially with Tudhope getting the ride again. Was also looking at Aramist at 20-1 but not sure the ground will be soft enough for him.

The thread started with
"... risking your hard earned on a horse needing good or faster ground at Haydock over the years would put you in the poor house..." couldn't put it better... A big shame though especially for those who backed it. Notarised for me anyway, think he has a good chance.. |
By:
Glad I'm not on my own betilyerded!
Also please Tudhope is back on. Was jocked up early in the week as well which makes me think he was keen for the ride. Gave him a decent ride at the course few months back and on a really crude reading of collateral form through Seamour he's much better in than the favourite here. Not particularly fancy connections and not a flashy sort himself so I can see why he's being overlooked here. Ground, course and distance all look fine for him though and (although there is the odd shocker in his record) everything looks set for him to run a big one here. Taken the plunge at 16/1 as with the lack of liquidity on here he could be any price by the morning. Wouldn't be against him drifting out slightly and going back in myself though ![]() Nakeeta for 2nd and High Secret for 3rd would be perfect. GL ![]() |

Battersea & Mr Singh - an AP double whammy for me today. Hve to take it on the chin when you get involved in AP betting but still a wounder

unlucky on your bet knot i quite like totalize in a pretty poor race for the money
By:
shame no pace wd winners
By:
My second pick
![]() No pace and being held up last did for Totalize |
By:
well done anyone who found the winner or bagged a place.
By:
Thats unlucky Benji - take it you didnt back Nakeeta!
Writing was on the wall turning for home for Totalize but thats the way things have gone for me so far today - having a bit of a shocker tbh. |
By:
And after the 3.10 it just got worse. Got stuck into My name Is Rio at 16's this morning. 'Nuff said.
By:
Nope, was quite strong on Totalize so just went for the forecasts with the others to the single.
Not played in any other races today myself other than this and the Sprint Cup. Some (historically) big weekends coming up betting wise for me, particularly the Arc one... |
By:
I Never thought Id say this but....
I LOVE YOU JAMIE SPENCER!!!!!!!! Just got me out of a massive hole on Right Touch. Almost £200 down on the day and now Im £200 up! Why do I put myself through this? Beer time! At least I still have some wedge left for the Ayr Gold Cup. |
By:
"only fools rush in"...backed battersea for the mallard h'cap at doncaster on friday 12-1 ew with laddies, hope that cut leg as heeled??
that ground at haydock would not have suited anyway, hoping he at least turns up. |
By:
Slightly unlucky again today I think knot in wood. Been given a pretty poor ride. Swap the jocks/ride on the front two and I'm fairly sure you'd be reversing the result.

had his ground in the end.
