Form is form - Storm the Stars appears to want the distance test, if he gets to go in the Voltiguer and he goes and win's it as I would expect him to win it, then the 5/1 (6/1 in a limited few places) could look a cracking EW bet at this time.
Very impressed again with his run in the Derby yesterday, doesn't have that immediate change of pace like Golden Horn or Jack Hobbs but won't be facing them at Donny and has the look of a really resolute galloper.
Really, not many (at this stage) horses that stick out as real challengers, Ballydoyle look to be struggling -Maybe Bondi Beach after today's run at the Curragh could be the horse for them but fancy that STS has too much class for him.
I'm in .... thoughts?

Not having a bet yet but I haven;t given up on Elm Park (16/1 currently). His Dante form is looking better by the race and he looked all the world like a Leger horse last year and was very impressive at Doncaster in the Racing Post. Think they made a big mistake aiming him at the Guineas (was a non runner on the day) as he was never going to have the pace for that.

Hopefully after a nice break there are some postive reports coming from the Balding camp nearer the time - I'd assume the Voltigeur might be his next aim?.

I thought the racing manager to the owner said he could be geared towards the Champion Stakes at the end of the season. He definitely needs dropping in class first though, probably to Group 3 level, just to see what kind of form he is in. I cannot believe they were comparing this horse to Mill Reef!

Storm The Stars looks the obvious one, slight concern would be the amount of runs he's had so far this season.

Bondi Beach and Order of St.George are still unexposed but race looks wide open if your take out the favourite..

What I like about about Storm The Stars is he has a good attitude.   He tries.
I backed him at 80s for the Derby and was happy.
He probably needs a bit of down time.  And in a heatwave no sense in working.

Mr Singh ran a good trial today. He looks to stay very well and is improving. Given that he will next run at Donny he is a bit of value at anything over 8/1 even now.

Very happy with the Mr Singh run also, he has lengths to find with Storm the Stars from Goodwood and was a nice boost to the form.

Not happy about the Grand Prix de Paris entry. agree with an earlier poster that the horse should have a little tiime between races.

This race comes back to ALOFT, last years Racing Post Trophy run, shows how well thought of he was in 2014, and he stepped forward again with a stirring run from the rear to capture the Queens Vase. 14s looks huge to me.

Todays race in Paris will probably confirm that the Leger is the race for Storm The Stars as he didn't have enough speed to win an Arc.

Was a little skeptical when reading he race results but having watched the race replay (thanks to the poster) am a little more warm tot he chances for the St Leger.
I think it is obvious that the horse needs a break so hopefully they will now dismiss the idea of going to York.
He was outsprinted again today and just does not have that 1m2f/1m 4f turn of foot, he is more of a grinder.
Surprised that they did not make more use of his 'apparent' stamina in the race today and was always going to be a sitting duck for the speedier colts.
Happy that he managed to hold off Balios (who, prior to the race could have been considered a St Leger candidate also)
All in all, given a break and possibly a more aggressive ride in the Leger am surprised to hear that the odds have been lengthened for Donny.

The very real threat of Covert love turning up should be taken seriously.

Srorm The Sky has now been exposed 3 times as some way below the top 3yo form so is he even good ebough for a Leger? it dependds what the opposition is but a late developing 3yo colt or filly could easily beat him.

So what's the verdict on Highland Reel then? Has some class to get involved by never really picked up much confidence in a St.Leger tilt from AOB in his post-race interview.

They have so many entries...16...4 entered currently for the Ballyroan Stakes at Leopardstown on Thursday 6th, including Fields of Athenry. He looks very interesting.

I wouldn't think Highland Reel would be their best chance over 1m6, I really like Fields of Athenry - his last run was pretty spectacular and he looks to like a bit of ease in the ground though I doubt he needs it.

Covert Love looks to me a huge danger, but seeing her price go from 10 to 30 on here I presume Hugo Palmer said something ??? (I can't find it)

Btw, if you remember back earlier in the season AO'B said it was Ryan Moore's opinion that Highland Reel would be better over the 10.5f in France than 12 at Epsom ... so to go up to 14f is a real stretch even if he proved he could do 1m4

Covert Love has been talked up by Hugo Palmer.

"Pat Smullen said when he crossed the line he felt she'd win the St Leger"

would certainly confirm the impression she made in the Irish Oaks

The leger is always tough, this year Sea The Storm, Balios would appear the two with the more solid credentials, but I Like Bondi Beach, profile screams stayer, already beat older horse of note( Forgotten Rules) albeit receiving lots of weight,Covert Love requires further improvement in the region of 7-8 lb, but may be capable? at the minute Bondi Beach would tempt me more than most for a place bet, but STS and Balios set the standards.

Balios does not look like a horse that wants further than a mile and a half to me though I do like Covert Love who seems to have a great attitude.

Aloft at 12s and Mr Singh at 8s are the ones for this. Ladcrooks noticeably short with Aloft at 8s.

Covert Love, to me, has the class and the stamina. Lucky I jumped on at 30s, just hope she takes her chance.

The fillies might not be having an exceptional year, but she's right there with the best of them - and it's a big gap back to the 3 top Horses (who obv won't be in the Leger).

Of the rest, AO'B has such a handful - Fields of Athenry looks the pick to me, though there are 3 of them with solid chances. If Kingfisher goes to the Curragh, as is likely, then it's possible all 3 will go to Donny.

So, buyer beware !

I'd also echo the comment about Balios, nothing much to my eye / reading his pedigree to indicate he'll appreciate the 1m6

Covert Love unlikely to go for this as she's now running in Yorkshire Oaks on Thursday

I am anticipating a pitiful field of maybe 5 / 6 for this now and am happily sat with my numerous wagers which aggregate 11/2 ew (3 places)
To be perfectly honest am not so sure that I am as confident as when i started this thread but cannot see it being out of the 3.

Come on Aiden pull a couple out pal :)

i can honestly see a 7 runnner leger, most are O'briens and surely he won't run more than three at the most. All the front of the market were value this morning.

something interesting - Order of St. George is the only horse from the first three of AO'B booked to also run in the Irish Leger (Bondi Beach, Fields of Athenry not entered there). Kingfisher is an Irish Leger hope, but has a tough task, would make sense to run 2 at Doncaster and 2 at the Curragh. (Bondi, Fields at Doncaster; Order, Kingfisher at Curragh).

Order of St George sweated up badly on his neck when he won last time at the Curragh.

That would be a worry for me with such a big day at Donny and the lively crowd and all that- he might just boil over.
