That was a cracking performance by horse and jockey. Ben Curtis (ex-shared champion Irish apprentice alongside Gary Carroll and Joseph O'Brien) certainly has a good clock for pace. His female line is class, 3rd dam won the Canadian Oaks and was Champion 3yr old filly and produced Key to the Moon winner of more than a dozen races and a Champion 3yo colt in Canada.   Last year’s winner Noble Silk was a running on 4th off 95 behind Angel Gabrial in the 2014 with Ellison’s Totalize (off 91)in 7th (-7 l) (2nd today). It is likely he will be in the early 90’s after today and given Geordie Ellison’s ambition to win the Pitmen's Derby, his comments that he is better than a handicapper and aim is the Plate (Moyenne Corniche his Ebor winner was 5th to Tominator off 100 in 2011), and trainers usual form with older horses in June, he would go there with every chance if there is a bit of give.
