Would Obrien use the same lead horses in a piece of work that could potentially give a guide to who might be the better, you would think not unless anybody knows the workings of a typical flat yard
Yet continued support for Ol Man River in the past week and the last serious peice of work will have only been done recently
It is definitely wait and see and rumours are only rumours, but if Ryan chooses Ol Man River then certainly would suggest it could well have happened
I hope he gets the chance. I rather rashly had 20 on him at 40s to win the first 2 after he won his group 2 without stress.
I just wonder this year if for once they have a champ and are letting him do the talking rather than go on about him thrashing Kawasakis on the gallops with his natural speed etc.
If he wins the Guineas he would be a very likely Derby winner. His dam although a winner of 2 one mile classics according to Timeform stayed 10 furlongs. OMR is bound to get the Derby trip imo.
Its pretty much the usual Ballydoyle plan to go on about a horse quite stoutly bred (like OMR) not staying so well. Stamina is not fashionable. They went on about Galileo having so much speed (by Sadlers Wells out of a mare which won the Arc in a bog) they even entered him for the July Cup before him getting beaten over an inadequate trip of 10 furlongs.
OMR did look pretty impressive last year, winning a group 2 (a pretty poor one) very easily. He might outclass what may not be a great 2000 Guineas field.

And I don't trust Ballydoyle or what comes out of the stable. I would not be at all surprised if, after OMR wins, they say that he was always the one showing all the class at home.
I understand that feeling messed about at AOBs was why Johnny M quit. He may not always have been treated as he might have wanted.
