I expected him to be slightly shorter think he has a outstanding chance despite being top weight.  Excuses last time.. and he did not have a hard race as a result.  He won this race well last year and hoping for a repeat. Carruthers who was second in the race last year lower down the weights is also of interest, but whether he retains that ablity at 12 is questionable.

Good luck

I think he is a fair price but his jumping is a concern. At this stage i'm looking at INCENTIVISE and SIXTY SOMETHING.

Tales of Milan is of minor interest to me. Won't be playing antepost though.

Can also understand the market support for Return Spring.

^ He's my early pick too Benjy, but race not grabbing me yet. I'll look through it at final decs.

Incentivise taking out [running at Catterick today].

The previous winners of this race look to be harshly handicapped to me so sticking with a little win and place on Sixty Something.

I like Global Power for this. Backed at 14/1

I backed Global Power as well at 14s was suprised to see him that price after decs - trainer stated he would need it unraceable in the weekender - so hopefully will get his bog this weekend... so price could go either up or down... but do like the form/ weight / age profile in the right end of handicap and decent trainer having won Hennessey ...

I've taken early prices on a couple:

Peckhamecho is on a decent chase mark compared to his hurdles mark, and I like the jockey booking (needs a quiet ride) 25/1 too big. A bit risky returning to fences but at the price it's worth it as he's been running wel over hurdles.

Most will concentrate on RDB from Venetia's pair being a previous winner off 2lb lower, but I like Ballyoliver from the stable (Liam always rides it, so not bothered with Jockey bookings). Runs well fresh and has had a good break since pulling up at Cheltenham (turned out too quickly). From what I can gather they are trying to get it into the Grand National in which case he needs to win this to get in. 25/1 available in a place, again too big.

I think Return To Spring will run well, but happy to take o this novice at the prices. Not sure it will be heavy enough for Global Power and none of the rest float my boat.

The clock says

1.Global Power
2. Shotgun Paddy
3.Sixty Something

Clear blue water between Global Power and the other two and will be backing each way. Not sure about the other two but will probably have a saver each way on both.

Tales of Milan – He was outpaced lto over 3 miles at a sharp track like Kempton but plugged on at the end and nearly got 4th. He needs these extreme trips and won a good race at Sandown in Dec. Worth another chase off such a light weight here.

Global Power – He’s had 4 consistent runs and still is on a mark which he I believe he is will be very competitive off here over this extended trip. He’s found 3m2f trip a shade two short on his previous two runs and will relish this test.

Tales of Milan is very big now. Bit worried he's no chance of dominating this from the front but hopefully he's ridden sensibly enough. Harry Haynes on again so should know enough about him.

I'm going to back Return Spring as well. Proper favourites chance that.
Report CVByrne January 9, 2015 8:53 PM GMT
Return Spring has a good chance, just not my kind of price in a competitive race like this for a Novice.

Tales of Milan has to be bet at that price. Will get this trip no problem and that may be enough to win. He's got better than the 3.8% chance a 25/ shot is priced as having.
Report Benjy January 9, 2015 9:01 PM GMT
I would normally agree and it's very rare I'll back a single figure priced novice in this sort of race but against this field I genuinely think 6/1 looks more than reasonable tbh.
