Think Hurricane Fly is the bet here especially at 4/5 - 10/11 on soft ground. Jezki been friendless all day will he run? PP went 4/6 6/4 this afternoon before anything moved on here. There has been movement last hour.

I hope Hurricane Flyruns and wins and does the same thing in the Irish Champion Hurdle. Conditions are ideal for him. I'm starting to get the feeling he won't go to Cheltenham but you never know. I think if he did, Ruby would find it hard to ride something else in opposition to him.
Report SEATHESTARS....NO1 December 27, 2014 11:46 PM GMT
I took 20/1 the fly for chelt this afternoon, 5s a place the way the race is looking is miles too big imo. Backed Jezki at 13/2 and faugheen at 7/4 (biggest bet ive ever placed).

I don't think we will be seeing Jezki on Monday, been watching the market today after racing and nothing been matched yet fly been shortening. If Jezki don't go fly will be 7s or 8s on. 4/5 could be monsterous!

won 600 quid on horses today went to collect, thought id reinvest on the fly in this around the shops at 4/5, got offered 200 and couple 100s various places, told i was sp only on ante post in another work that one out.

got incline jessie might wait for the irish champion hurdle on better ground, why slog his guts out in this when everything favours the fly, plus jp left in plinth to give himself a runner.

then on a 1/10 shot, if not will lay my bet off at 1.5 near the off.

irish champion is rarely better ground...they should just take their chance...he handles heavy ground.

I don't see HF turning up at Cheltenham where he'll get battered.
Report Howdi December 29, 2014 1:12 PM GMT
ruby will have no problem getting off fly for the machine.
Report Howdi December 29, 2014 1:12 PM GMT
i heard fly was going w hurdle or that was the plan at start of season.
Report SEATHESTARS....NO1 December 29, 2014 1:42 PM GMT
Personally i cant see why fly wouldn't run on the Churdle at Cheltenham, different owners to Faugheen and surely they can't dictate simply on jockey decisions. Yes a difficult decision but am sure Ruby will choose the 21 grade 1 winner over the up and coming and there are plenty other decent jockeys out there to choose from. If i was Willie Mullins though i would take away the decision from Ruby and just tell him who he's riding, i.e the fly. Especially after that.

This is the way i see it

Faugheen Ruby Wlash, Mr p.w mullins, Townend ??
TNO - STD
Jezki - Mccoy
Hurricane Fly Ruby likeliest imo but also Mr p.w mullins, Townend ??

hurricane fly v istabraq - evens the pair - where would your money go?
Report Wicketd December 29, 2014 3:45 PM GMT
istabraq for me as he never showed signs of vulnerablility that HF has on the rare occasion...would be close though
Report Howdi December 29, 2014 4:03 PM GMT
i agree
Report Arklearkle December 29, 2014 4:45 PM GMT
HF for me. Istabraq fell twice and 2nd to Royal Thyne, Pridwell and Limestone Lad.
Report fix December 29, 2014 5:35 PM GMT
Hurricane Fly has won most of his Grade 1 races off a slow pace on soft ground and while Istrabraq has a similar profile is both a quicker jumper and faster horse and denied a 4th Champ Hdr because of foot in mouth (gob) I suspect the bookies organised or welcomed the outbreak (Maybe??)
Report Mr Eboue December 29, 2014 5:51 PM GMT
Hurricane fly has won a lot of his races where he's had one opponent.

Talk about him being 'the best over jumps' or whatever nonsense Mullins said is laughable bilge.

He's an exceptional horse but lets get some perspective.
Report Benjy December 30, 2014 2:11 PM GMT
Istabraq would destroy HF in a Champion Hurdle. And that's where it really matters. Cool
Report Arklearkle December 30, 2014 5:30 PM GMT
Istabraq would be probably due another fall. I dont see how a horse which has fallen twice over hurdles can be deemed to be one of the best hurdlers ever.
Report Platini December 31, 2014 12:14 PM GMT
HF shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as Istabraq.
Report Glossy January 1, 2015 11:43 PM GMT
Rose tinted glasses where Istabraq is concerned. There were plenty of races where he only had one horse to beat - sometimes fewer!
Report Glossy January 1, 2015 11:44 PM GMT
They are very closely matched as far as I am concerned.
Report sintonian January 3, 2015 11:50 AM GMT
I thought Jezki looked in great nick during the race and was gagging for that stronger pace. Shame he could not outbattle HF in the finish but it was a good run,.

Istabraq & Hurricane Fly, different times, both up there among the absolute greatest to ever race. You'll have one camp say one is better, another camp say the other is better. Just opinions at the end of the day mostly fueled by how much a person is fond of one or the other.

One thing to be said about Fly though, he has been so great to his supporters is in betting terms, at sp level stake profit of 1900% he's been a joy to follow. What a horse.

Istabraq's Cheltenham record is what puts him in a different class to HF.

Everything is ''just'' an opinion CV. People are allowed them.
Report CVByrne January 3, 2015 4:11 PM GMT
Sure I know that Sint. Can't see where I said people weren't allowed them Confused Opinions on current horses who will face eachother serve a purpose though, they will race and you can find out if you were right or wrong and aim to make money from that opinion. Everyone is right or wrong many times in this game after all.

I just don't see the point to say one or other of 2 great horses was the better when they raced a decade apart is all.
