Does Arctic Fire run ?

Mullins certainly seems happy to send his horses over due to a "lack of opportunities" in Ireland these days. Wouldn't surprise me.

The ground is surely vital to Irving. I know he has picked up a few wins on soft but looked far more impressive on good last year. Hopefully he proves to be a Champion Hurdle standard runner otherwise its a 3 horse race already

will look in detail later in the week but was really taken with the Quinn mare lto at Wetherby - he's won the Fighting Fifth before so should know the standard required - the 7lb mares allowance is welcome but , set against that, she's only 4yo and is taking on bigger, older boys...

Certainly not a race I would be rushing to back antepost, but if there is a similar price for Sign Of A Victory on Saturday I may have a few quid on.
By:
Agree ReaseHeath. She was pulled out against The New One only due to the ground on Saturday there if memory serves me correctly.
By:
She should be getting a 4yo allowance too
By:
yes, sint, just assumed 7lbs was all mares allowance perhaps it's split between mares and 4yo.
I'm not sure the ground was so bad at Haydock on Saturday and just wonder if connections thought again about taking on TNO when they weighed up the likely opposition here. Given the enhanced mares programme this year, it's surely significant that they want to run her in these sort of races. All supposition of course...there might be a superstar in the race but Irving keeps finding ways not to win and although SoV was visually impressive not sure what the form is worth. Purple Bay sets a solid standard I suppose. |
By:
actually Countrywide Flame won off levels as 4yo in 2012, so looks like the 7lb allowance is solely for mares.

What a sad looking lineup. Bring back the bonus for winning Fighting Fifth, Xmas Hurdle and Champion Hurdle triple crown!
Surely the Newcastle owners must be tearing their hair out that Haydock introduced a Champion Hurdle trial one week before their race. |
By:
Agree Tucho race planners, 2 non events basically shame, could have had one decent race.
By:
Liked what i saw when Purple Bay won last time, so he will do for me.
By:
Big raps to the magic sign the only firm to offer each-way terms 123 in their ante post book for the fighting fifth hurdle. All the other firms offer only first two even though their are 8 entries !
By:
6 declared, no Sign of victory and no Purple Bay.
By:
What is the reason for Sign Of Victory not running ?
By:
The clock is shouting Irving, should be odds on in my opinion.
By:
Henderson states ground too soft for SoV according to RUK.
By:
On Irving at 7/4, happy with that!
By:
Looks a really weak fighting fifth but then again what do they expect for 50k, race status needs to downgraded imo.
By:
It's not the same since wbx pulled their bonus
By:
last weeks race at haydock doesn't help
