To what extent does he have leeway to get off a Sr. Michael Stoute horse if he's offered something else (and really wants it) ?

Just like with the British Champion / for next year , if Coolmore decide Joseph is growing too big then .. ??

Does anyone know if he could have say, jumped on Australia vs Telescope in the International ??

I doubt very much he could have jumped from Telescope to Australia (if he was offered the choice). He seems quite loyal to Sir Michael Stoute at the moment. He could have made the break to Coolmore several years ago if he wanted to.

he could have made the jump permanently -- but it just struck me one of the Ch4 people said he'd have love to have been on Australia and would have made the jump across in a heartbeat (clare balding I think?)

seemed odd - I thought it would be in his contract as retained jockey - and it's not as if he's giving up a maiden ride to go travel for a G1 .. he's taking the opposition horse !! ??

But .. is he actually a contracted retained jockey or not ??? does anybody know that ?

If Balding said it take it with a pinch of salt! Dreadful wobble mouth of a woman.

Not sure what his actual contractual obligations are.

If Australia goes to the Breeders' Cup vs Telescope, we'll find out for sure !! .. Balding should have known, given her connection to Highclere Racing etc..

I remember LESTER and MURLESS, falling out over a VINCENT O'BRIEN
trained horse, because LESTER was convinced that the O'BRIEN horse would
win that years OAKS, WHICH SHE DID.
