Sea the Moon now a confirmed runner for the Grosser Preis von Baden on Sunday. Trainer said it was something minor and he´s fit and ready. Soumillon will ride again. Germany´s other top three year olds Lucky Lion and Sirius are also confirmed runners. German Oaks winner Feodora might be supplemented.

Sea the Moon 1.8
Lucky Lion 4.0
Ivanhowe 5.5
Sirius 7.5

23.0 and bigger the rest.

I was expecting STM to be 2/7 tbh.

Trainer also said the setback was straight after the German Derby and the main aim now  is to have him ready for the ARC .

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-9S9MnCzTDA        (just go to 2.20)

what was the PM after this seemingly very spectular run ,did the horse just lug left or was it intentional ? what was said after the race ?
CS struggles to pull STM up,he  cantered over the line ,nearly goes through a rail ,not sure if the horse had something wrong ,seemed to change stride/stumble a bit   and drift right inside the final furlong as he was being eased  .Also not sure but looks  like a brown strip on the stands side ?  was the ground very different on the other side ? the horse that turned into the straight last (yellow and green ) comes stands side ish and seems to make a bit of headway over the far side group who kind of look like they are on soft ground ,bobbing up and down like a 3m2f chasers .

did this horse drift off the bend and come upon  find a fast strip when the others fell into quicksand halfway up the straight ?

b&b , soumillon said he puposefully went to stands side as he thought better ground, also with stm's tendency to hang left.

personally i'm a bit worried for arc, re hanging,as he'll face better oposition.
If jockey can keep him on inside till last fulong maybe ok.

STM did the same in his derby prep, maybe won't stop him winning again.

I'd be more worried about the j aps buying him and then withdrawing him from the race like they did with Novellist last year...funny he's now at the same stud as Orfevre.

cheers ribotman ,there was a thread entitled STM Blush ,did not notice it till after i posted .
the left drift is a worry ,has a horse ever came stands side at longchamp and won the arc ?
would be a potential for interference if he is covered up on the inside and then produced imo ,would be safer drifting from the front but its a pretty wide track .Head on of the prep run is very revealing ,big drift under the drive .
Done it very easy from the front in German Derby so every chance of a similar run ,any jock challenging on his outside should go to the guillotine Grin

Didn't know that elg,was there last year and had novellist at ante post.
Prob wouldn't have beaten treve, but still not cricket by the japanese.
Backfired though when orfevre beaten again.

b&b the only arc winner i can remember that did anything like a sea the moon was sea bird ,though he only swerved in the last 2 furlongs when well clear.
It did cost orfevre in 2013,he drifted stands side as he hit the front and when soumillon tried to straighten him he veered the other way under the whip.

Imo it was the heavy ground, bad draw{which meant he had to come wide}and the crowd noise as he took the lead.

I thought Novellist got injured or was that just the story told to the public then?

Owner of STM has said he has already turned down huge offers and does so on a daily basis. He'll be worth more after the Arc (if he wins)

SEA BIRD II did drift left once in the home straight, but
he did win by 6 lengths, one of the greats.
