Done two so far.
Wadi Al Hattawi @ 16/1 Continuum @ 33/1 |

The fav does look gd & will prob win the great race, but not on at any of the gds prices so will be looking for something to beat him at prices. Would expect the fav to be a better price come the morning of the race tho, we shall see.
Took some of the small £ about Dare To Achieve (120.0) & Wadi Al Hattawi (16.5). Both on my short list for the race & will def get into the field if intended runners. Will wait till next wk now before doing anything else (Sat wk) with all the rain about in the York area. Gd luck with yours |

Fallen for Havana Cooler again last chance saloon, rain no probs.
|
By:
Don't think he wants slow ground imo.
G/fast ground horse in my book. Looked a bit wayward at g/wood under pressure?? Could see them opting for the horsey side-burns with him. |
By:
I agree Miller fast ground and some sort of headgear. Also can't see him making the cut? I like the horse but he's running out of excuses and may need 2 miles.
|
By:
Think he will prob make the cut & is best on fast(ish) ground.
Don't think he is a 2miler tho?? Maybe g/wood was not to his liking & if kept on a str line their would prob have held on. Poss wants to be held on to a bit longer as well. Solid ew chance granted gd or better ground imo. |
By:
I took Luca's SIR WALTER SCOTT in this at 25/1. Will defo get in, has a touch of class, ex APOB and Luca has aimed him at this race. Probably a better chance than Havana Cooler who is 'iffy' and was beaten by the owners of SWS last time out with their other one at Goodwood.
|
By:
Cumani entered him in The Northumberland Plate earlier in the year and to me all he does is stay, looks pretty one paced. Still needs 12 to drop out at the moment, wait till the 5 day decs to get a better idea. If the ground comes up soft couldn't have him for this. They ran at Goodwood trying to get a penalty to ensure a run in this.
|
By:
You're talking about HAVANA COOLER there aren't you ?
|
By:
Sorry yes I am talking about Havana Cooler.
|
By:
I like Mighty Yar for this but needs fast ground. Price has been ruined but it was a good effort conceding lumps to the Stoute horse lto who probably should have won again at Goodwood and is entered in the Great Voltigeur.
|
By:
Too many imponderables to have a bet yet, will Spencer now ride Pallasator? As has been said surely he'll drift?? Looks to have more positives than negatives and to me it's very interesting that Sir Mark didn't mind picking up a penalty when he didn't one to ensure a run. Very similar profile to Hasten To Add.
|
By:
Spencer would be a negative booking imo.
|
By:
is morris suspended/injured ?
|
By:
Horse been sold to the "new" arab mod (the redvers gang I think) which means that clown "Frank" will prob be on top. Hope not & its part of the deal that Morris rides in the Ebor. Not read anything about that part of it??
We shall see. |
By:
aha, i'm sure I read morris keeps the ride. just couldn't put spencer on , it would be irresponsible.
|
By:
Luke Morris keeps the ride lads that's been stated ...
|
By:
not had a bet yet but it looks an interesting renewal...
Dare To Achieve would be at the top of my short list, perhaps not quite developed as much as his run behind Remote suggested in that stellar maiden at Newbury early last season but still lightly raced and open to improvement plus looks like he's been laid out for this - it's plausible that his disappointing run at Epsom lto might have been as a result of not acting on the track... Noble Silk has been admirably consistent in similar races this season but might not get in. Pale Mimosa also makes some appeal but not sure of the running plans, will wait for final decs now. |
By:
havana cooler, mighty yar may not get in.?
|
By:
De Rigueur cracking e/w bet at 16s, saver in case Havana doesnt get in?
|
By:
mighty yar the last one in, havana cooler 2nd reserve.
|
By:
Can anyone shed any light as to why Ted Veale & Mighty Yar got in ahead of Glorious Protector & Havana Cooler?
|
By:
taken a little 25/1 ew Dare To Achieve now - stable form and draw made it too difficult to resist, would n't want too much rain but forecast not too bad (for what it's worth 48 hours out)...
|
By:
Tough draw for the fav (22)
And would prob want to see plenty more showers to ease the ground a little. Hope Havana gets in (2nd Res) if it stays on the fast side he would be a big player in my book. |
By:
reserves have until 10am Friday, after that they won't get a run even if there are NRs
|
By:
is the draw tough for fav ? last 5 winners drawn 16 , 22, 10, 16, 18 resectively.
|
By:
yes high draw good
|
By:
The draw wouldn't bother me in the slightest, no excuses for anyone with the draw. Personally think this is one of the toughest Ebors in recent memory, so many with very good chances and I'd rather wait till as late as possible to see what the weather does.
|
By:
There's a negative stat on older horses in the ebor but I don't think this is a vintage renewal and I like the look of Ted Veale. BF last year when it fell out of the stalls…finished 4th btw just over 2L staying on…will like the better ground and won well 3 weeks ago over sticks so should be fit and well. Trainer notorious for plotting a good handicap and he's protected his flat mark since last year, has a useful 7lb claimer on top for saturday and it's flat mark is well below that over sticks so may still be lightly treated. I'm on at 26s but still think 20s is interesting in a competitive field.
|
By:
both reserves miss out on a run.
|
By:
Shame Not winning at g/wood has cost Havana its place.
Whats the bets that 2 drop out 2moro |
By:
I'm still non the wiser as to why Ted Veale & Mighty Yar get a run and Havana does not.
I guess it's eeny meeny miny mo........... |
By:
well almost they would have had a ballot for the bottom weights some would have missed out some got in and two made it as reserves.
|

By:
Pallasator is a worthy fav in this , just about all his form stacks up and the long home straight looks ideal , he looks to be a few pounds well in , but more importantly he will be racing on a Course where he can use his giant stride to full advantage , he does takes a fair bit of winding up , so hope the rider does not sit way out back off a dawdling pace , this is my one concern GL
|
By:
Van Percy and Retirement Plan are my 2 against a very competive field.
|
By:
While on the drift with most bookies Ted Veale has interestingly been clipped in by the Irish bookie **** to 14/1…I still have a hope this is a classic Martin handicap plot
|
By:
Great race in-store as norm 2day, just hope it does not turn to tactical & they crawl Prob the smallest bet I have ever had but I hope to be collecting on my little interest on here a few wks ago on Dare To Achieve at 120.0 (£4 ) that would bring a little bit of a smile to the coupon
Wadi Al Hattawi (16.5) for a bit more than above & had a little bit on Pallasator at 5s with baldy Fred this morn. Asmall play race this year for me, gd luck with your bets lads, cheers |
By:
I've gone for Pallasator as everything looks in place for a big run but I've got to say the dangers are vast. Good luck to everyone.
