This looks mega competitive,I like the look of Narniyn but Mr Gosden now pitches Sultanina in the deep end,and it is very much respected ,with any rain of assistance,I think Venus De Milo looks a lay.
Tough race to call. I've backed Venus De Milo. John Gosdens horses are only running because The Fugue got injured, thats my take on it anyway. Not sure what to make of the french horse, she could win. But venus was a late starting 3yo so hopefully more to come.

Good morning MJ. Another Gr1 not worthy of. Anyway I think Amazing Maria wins if she runs which I'm afraid to say is unlikely. But it's not a great race so medium stakes only. If it rains however things may change.

A fairly poor renewal IMO. The horse I really like is Mango Diva. She's not got the rub of the green in any of her three starts thus far. Managed to pull it out of the back at the Curragh latest despite being outpaced. I think if there's a stiff pace here, she'll win well. The question is though, where does the pace come from?!?!

I'm surprised to see Venus de Milo drifting given that the ground is staying on the quick side. The will suit VdM but not Narniyn. But money really does talk for the O'Brien stable, any drift has got to be a big negative

A poor renewal this year but a race worthy of Gp1 status overall. Over the years it's been won by such good fillies/mares as Islington, Russian Rhythm, Alexander Goldrun, Ouija Board, Peeping Fawn, Midday and The Fugue. Many of the older fillies just wouldn't be kept in training without opportunities like these. Not a race to be confident about whether a backer or a layer. Amazing Maria very marginally tops my ratings on last year's form but she ran very disappointingly in the Oaks after Dunlop talking up her chances. There might be no pace on and with French horses being well practiced in such circumstances Narniyn would have to be respected, although I won't be backing her. The only value I can see is Eastern Belle, with the 9lbs allowance I favour her over Gosden's other runner and think Buick may be on the wrong one. If it was 8 runners I'd be having a reasonable each way bet on her but with only 7 runners and the prospect of no pace on rain softened ground then no result would surprise me and stakes are just a minimum.

Definitely a genuine Group 1 race since it became Gr1 in 1999. Just a poor renewal. Sadly it looks like being so into the future with The Fugue and Taghrooda retiring. Time will tell but it has been one of the better fillies and mares races.

And a race where the fillies mostly run to form , Venus should be at least placed , as she is completely fresh and won a listed race over ten furlongs on firm ground coming from an impossible looking position , could only have a saver on AM as she ran abysmally in the Oaks .The fugue would mangle this lot .

Had The Fugue been running it would have been one of the few times that banker would actually mean banker. AM is classy. She was aimed at all of the Guineas but wasn't right and had a hasty prep for the Oaks where she did not stay. I would have preferred a mile but as Ed was prepared to go for the Oaks he clearly thinks stamina is not a problem. Can't think many of these would have been Guineas or Epsom Oaks material.
