I'd like to hear how the 'time boys' on here and others have rated this horse after his victory in the King Edward on Friday.
To the eye it was very impressive and the winning margin could have been greater if asked. He handled the ground very well and being a son of Pivotal a softer surface should not hold any fears either. He comes from a lovely family, The Lark, a full sister being placed in last season Oaks and winning the Gr2 Park Hill. Also in the family is the top class Sariska, winner of the English and Irish Oaks and placed in 3 other Gr1's.
I'm not sure how good the horses were behind. Normally O'Brien will send one of his Derby also rans here but Adelaide came here fresh and was backed like defeat was out of the question. Snow Sky came here after a comfortable victory in the Lingfield Derby trial and was fancied by some to run a big race in the Derby itself, so I think the bare standard was ok for this race.
The Royal meeting has thrown up a few new contenders for the middle distance races to come. A month ago, Treve looked the obvious choice for the KG and Arc if she ran, but now we have Australia, Kingston Hill, Taghrouda, Eagle Top, Telescope and The Fugue to consider as well and perhaps the Irish Derby will throw up another one. We still have not seen Remote this year and that is disappointing as I still think that he could be a contender if they get him back to full fitness.

Just an ordinary winner on time, for me. I think Adelaide was overrated, Snow Sky went backwards and the winner looked better than he is due to others slowing. In my view he's going to need to improve a lot to figure in better races.

The form may not look great but the vibes from Buick and Gosden when interviewed were important imo. Gosden scoffed at the idea of the Leger hinting that he thought he was far too good to race over 14 furlongs

I was impressed with him. Whether he goes for a G1 next I don't know but he has improved very quickly to say he only made his debut at Newbury on Greenham day. I think you could see how much Buick and Gosden rate him so maybe he could end up running in the King George next. I think Snow Sky will be better next time he's come back soon after a setback and looked to get tired to me.

i thought it looked a poor race on paper with a weak favorite...however he did it well on his third start...
what he achieved i'm not sure as the race appeared to collapse and although a lot of the horses had an alright rating going into the race there really was question marks over most of them hence the gamble on adelaide...so a race to be treated with real caution imo
the winner should improve....however he would need too to mix it with proper group 1 horses but considering he is a late starter there is hope but personally i wouldn't be taking an under price on him on that performance...i see he is 9-2 for the george and that makes no appeal
i will be more interested now in seeing him put some solid form in the book as fridays race really lacked depth so will be interested if he can back this up and improve upon it against better horses...

A crazy price, harry, especially when you think back to Nathaniel's far more impressive performance in the same race and how he was more than double those odds ante post for the KG and still went off bigger than ET's current price on the day.

i'll be honest figgis i can't actually believe it, 9-2...still these sort of things are always helpful, lets hope the other firms rate him so highly as well

Daft price when you have no idea of the likely opposition. There are doubts about Treve, Australia, The Fugue etc. running but Telescope also looked like a big improver and what about Noble Mission who beat him easily twice. Add in Cirrus des Aigles, Taghrooda and a few others that might turn up and 9/2 looks crazy.

Sage, you can rule a lot of those out. CDA, Noble Mission is much better on Soft, but there are also others like Magician and Ruler of the world. Aidan's Coronation Cup runners usually go for the King George along with a 3yo. The Fugue will probably race in the Eclipse first.

if you consider he went off 4/6 for his Newbury maiden (only 2 subsequent winners admittedly) and his blood was wrong at Leicester, he could be a useful colt.

sint, it still might be soft for the KG but I agree that Noble Mission has probably done his racing for a while. After seeing what Telescope did at Ascot though they might be tempted. I accept that my list includes a lot of doubtfuls but I was just pointing out that there are a lot more potential Group 1 middle distance horses around than seemed likely 2 months ago. Flintshire and Magician both viable contenders.

If it comes up fast ground for the KG, I would love to see Taghrooda have a crack at the race. Think she would give them plenty to think about myself, she looks a real top class 1m4f filly to me, & 3yo have an excellent weights advantage in the race.

I've done an about-turn on ET. Friday's card was the one I spent the least time on and I should've put more work in before posting. On that running I believe he would've finished second in the Derby.
