Stirring Ballad back for another go after R Hughs decided to  cross to the other side to find a ground advantage last year , she could  be in the mix  if pointed the right way this time 

He is an interesting shout Uncle. His highest OR was 107 and he's now down to something more realistic, 99. His form figures do not look too pretty but in his last two runs he's shaped a lot better than finishing positions suggest as he had no clear run each time. The negatives would be that he's only Won 1 race from 26 starts and has never raced at Ascot before. Not made kean on the trainer either tbh, but 33/1 seems a fair price.

Is he definitely running?

I would not rule out Prince Of Johanne. At York he did not have his favoured ground and ran a blinder. If you take that form at face value then he must have a good shout. Several of the others can be fancied at the weights, Trumpet Major for example.A good race in prospect.

I'm not a fan of the trainer either but the horse doesn't know that.

Can't for the life of me see him stepping down to 7f - even 1m might a bit sharp if you look at his form and breeding..

Queensberry Rules is on my radar but so is Trumpet Major off 106 - could be very well treated

i backed burano on its last 2 runs each way at decent odds only for that **** jockey to find trouble in running wtf how can you find trouble on a straight course its form in meydan read well form lines with sweet lighting burano was pulled out the other week ground  not right maybe the price is to short at 33/1 antepost

ps the form lines were on the times posted in meydan for both horses

Definitely running, though still a general 33/1 poke so likely to be 40+ on here tomorrow.

Agree that Trumpet Major is well treated , he ran over nine furlongs last time and being by Arakan  did not quite get home,  but his win at Sandown  last year when he beat Chill the Kite  and the Farraaj  was strong enough  even for a  hot race like this , Dobs rides as Hughs  is down to ride Sea Shanty , can see that Horse being pulled out as he had a hard enough race on Saturday , see how it goes on that score .

Also had a little flutter on Artigiano who  has run well here before has run up close to Olympic glory on a couple of occasions.

Burano has been price wised I suspect.

Abseil may be the target but there are others with claims.
Prince Of Johanne should have his ground and his first run this term was a cracker but what about Steeler?
A Gr2 winner and less than 2 lengths behind Kingsbarns in a Gr1.
His comeback run in Meydan makes for good reading and the line through Artegiano to Olympic Glory adds a little more spice.
40/1 looks worth a punt,e/w of course.

Dunlaying , yes prince of Johanne only one pound higher than  his Sandown win last summer , one of the gamest Horses in training , loves firm ground  bang in form , another one for a couple of shekels , stop now cause that is four  and still may not get one in the Placepot

Abseil looks a very worthy fav and even though he might look a short price I wouldn't say he's too short. He was very impressive at Yarmouth, winning in a fast time, and at Epsom last time the race was slowly run and he won while running within himself, looks sure to at least go close. I don't really understand the confidence behind Queensberry Rules, maybe the yard know something I don't but I have him needing to improve a fair bit to figure here. Short Squeeze and Chil The Kite look badly handicapped to me. The one I think could give Abseil a race if running to his best is Ingleby Angel and he's well overpriced.

Bloob,he was banned last year and as far as I know has always been sound.

Queensbury Rules prob ran its best race here & for me had excuses after.........7f too short ......9f too far.........ran well York when fav in a 46K event (too free early-but still stayed on)......been gelded runs well fresh top pilot................could well have inproved 5/7lbs & is shure to be in the shake up.

Read in todays RP that QR has had a wind operation over the winter. Abseil maybe won despite not looking comfortable on the camber at Epsom.I believe that he is ahead of his handicap mark.

Why did they all come right over to stands side - every other race on the straight course had been run straight up the middle?

it always seems to happen in the handicaps, the other big-field races on the straight course they come down the middle. Having just the one group was unusual but still the high draws fared best

nice place return on Steeler, somehow that one got under the radar, very hard to weigh up but worth an e/w punt at 40/1
