while many, including myself will want California chrome to win

he will be very short in the American pools so the exotic bets without him will return big prices

My pick is Kid Cruz at 60s, 8th of 10 in the Preakness, beaten 16 lengths.

5/4 in the high street with Betfr

CC`s Grandam is by Mr Prospector, since 1982, his Blood has been in 16 Belmont Stakes Winners, over 50%, Staggering!.
She also has the English Derby Winner Sir Ivor in her Dams Bloodline.

CC`s Great Grandsire is A.P.Indy 1992 Belmont stakes winner, his sire is Seattle Slew Triple crown winner and his dams sire is Secretariat Triple crown winner.

So unlike many of the past horses that failed in the 3rd leg of the Triple crown through lack of Stamina, or the jock Kicking for home too soon,
California Chrome has the ticks in Every box!?.
Good Luck!!.

California Chrome does not imo have the pedigree for 12f imo.  But then neither does almost ever runner in the Belmont Stakes field.

His sire, Lucky Pulpit, ran at 5f, 6f, 8f, 9f.  Lucky Pulpit's 9f races: 2nd of 3 runners, 7th of 7 runners.
His dam, Love The Chase, won $7k, one win from 6 races.

Since 1990 there has been only two Kentucky Derbys run slower than California Chrome's 2014 win.

If California Chrome inherits characteristics from Mr Prospector (close up 4x3 duplications os Mr Prospector in his pedigree) he will have difficulty racing 12 furlongs.
"Mr Prospector never won beyond seven furlongs" a quote from "Gold Rush, How Mr Prospector Became Racing's Billion Dollar Sire" by Avalyn Hunter

California Chrome's Dosage Index is 3.40
- here http://www.pedigreequery.com/california+chrome

That DI of 3.40 is higher that these Belmont Stakes winners
Their pedigrees were more suited to 12f than California Chrome.
2013___Palace Malice____2.64
2012___Union Rags_______2.14
2011___Ruler On Ice_____2.56
2010___Drosselmeyer_____1.75

He won't carry my money.

When C.C. Won the San Felipe Stakes at Santa Anita this year, he went past the Mile pole in 1 min 33.94 secs, 0.54 secs outside the track Record, not even Wise Dan or Mucho Macho Man could go this fast when Winning their respective Breeders Cup races at Santa Anita in 2013.
In fact not many Grade 1 horses have gone past the Mile pole in under 1 Min 35 secs for a while.

I'm getting a bit confused by your facts.

Wise Dan carried 9-0 and ran 1:32.47 according to the Racing Post.  California Chrome ran, according to you a slower 1:33.94 carrying 8-6, 1.47 seconds slower while carrying 8 pounds less.
But California Chrome' race was on dirt, and Wise Dan's race on turf?
Much Macho Man's race was 10f on dirt, so again not comparable to the time California Chrome ran in a 8.5f race.

Sorry I meant Goldencents in the Breeders Cup Mile Dirt.

I cant see anything forcing a breakneck pace in this race, whats the point?,
CC will be happy to go through the first 4F in 45.00 or slower.
Report Graeme83 June 7, 2014 4:43 PM BST
I'll stick with medal count at the prices. Kincesm, yours runs in a stakes race over 9f in 25mins, at about 510pm. He's 2/1 for that.
Report kincsem June 7, 2014 4:55 PM BST
I put small amounts on Commanding Curve and Samraat for the Belmont to give me an interest.  I prefer my CC on pedigree to the hot favourite CC.
Report Graeme83 June 7, 2014 5:07 PM BST
Same here Kin. My bet on MC is an interest to. Certainly wouldn't grudge any horse a triple crown. Is the race on atr ?
Report metro john June 7, 2014 10:10 PM BST
I would like to see California Chrome win it,but I do believe Tonalist(even with a bad draw) will make things much tougher mid race,I can see Commanding Curve running a better race over this trip and will be my pick at the prices, just worry the track running unusually fast?
Report metro john June 7, 2014 10:13 PM BST
ROOKIE SENSATION could go well in the Manhattan
Report kincsem June 7, 2014 11:15 PM BST
The track is fast.  The Racing Post results have the Manhattan Stakes of 10f run in 1:35.72 or 9.572 seconds a furlong, or 47 m.p.h.
Report sidthekid June 7, 2014 11:47 PM BST
That time is Incorrect and Impossible.
Report sidthekid June 7, 2014 11:55 PM BST
Unless that time is for 8F, Most usa sites have Crashed!.
Report metro john June 8, 2014 8:52 AM BST
A very gallant and brave effort by California Chrome, the owners and trainer should be very proud of their efforts,I believe in the modern age, the reality of the triple crown is possibly beyond reach, three such tough Group1 races in 5 weeks is almost impossible, and in the UK I doubt any trainer would ever attempt the feat, but fantastic viewing and excitement, long may that American dream capture their imagination.Cool
