How many 12 year olds have won a race, any race at all, in the last 40+ years at the Cheltenham Festival?
Answer that question then decide whether you think 25/1 is 'value' Lovely horse, great champion in his time but a very unlikely winner indeed especially when you consider Irish trainers have only won the Cathcart (race that preceded the Ryan Air) and Ryan Air once since 1973 |

12yo's have won some of the Handicaps. Mister McGoldrick was one I believe. However, winning Grade 1s is completely different and if you listen to HDB's interview yesterday it sounded like the horse is on the wane, totally understandable given the amount of racing he's had and his age. Couldn't back him at 33's personally.

McGoldrick was 11 when he won the 2.5 mile Hcp chase off 145, had been as high as 160 at the start of the previous season

25/1 long gone - now 16's. Did you get a chance to respond to my question on the Cue Card thread, Rick? Would be interested to hear what you have to say.

will go see, but he looks to have a very stiff task don't he? 2.1x I saw just now for Tuesdays race, would not be taking that!
