Don't worry about Big Bucks, even if he does come back he won't be as good.
AFC keeps finding more when needed and doesn't seem to mind any type of going. I would back him now for the WH as he'll be 9-4 when he wins on Saturday |

I think it is well documented that I love the horse. You pose an interesting question and I guess it depends on where they aim Big Bucks. So yes there maybe situations where AFC is odds on. He started off at 7/4 for the Bet365 Hurdle earlier this week and is now 10/11. AFC was a big baby last year so I suspect that he is going to improve a lot this year.

By:
He was 7/4 before Dynaste pulled out
By:
9/4??, has solwhit lost a leg? and Big Bucks as well?
By:
Massive fan of AFC, no point backing him until the day.
He will be bigger than 7/4 on the day if he is unbeaten and has decent opposition. |
By:
He may be a good horse but it takes exceptional one to remain unbeaten throughout the course of a senior season. I've seen nothing in his races to suggest he is a Big Buck's or Sacre! Would want at least 10/1 for him to remain unbeaten.
By:
Tidal Bay could beat him Saturday,12yr old after an injury!!!
Probably wont happen, but would I laugh if he did!!! |
By:
Agree with OP this horse is a superstar it will win all its races barring a fall this season. Form working out sensationally too.
By:
Hes not a superstar yet, aint run out of novice company yet!!

don't know if you've seen it but paddy power has a special 'to remain unbeaten' market up and at fishers cross is 14/1, rules are he must run at least 3 times or else void |
By:
I love At Fisher's Cross and made a pile on him at the festival this year. I'll be a backer on Saturday, but he has little chance in March IMO. Big Buck's is the greatest hurdler ever in my book, and Nicholls will have him spot on for March. Add in Solwhit, Zarkandar, Reve de Sivola and potentially Gemix (who looked like a monster when beating Solwhit) and you have the most strength in depth of any race this year.
By:
Yes, could be quite a race come March. Do like AFC though (and have a 'soft' spot for the trainer of course).

I had a good bet on this horse last year for the AB because I thought the field was inferior and the ground conditions were in his favour, but what I've read since there seems to be an over reaction to his known ability at the moment...... He could be anything I agree but all his best work has been on SOFT, on a normal good ground Thursday of the festival he may not even run let alone beat some of the best around at that distance!
If he wins on soft on Saturday and goes 9/4 and anyone backs him at that they are bonkers........imo of course |
By:
stark raving mad imo!!
he does look good and is a horse that finds and finds and stays really well, and is no doubt a major player, but lets wait till hes out of short trousers before hailing a superstar. |
By:
I agree with pretty much all the sentiments above. We are talking about potential with AFC here so lets park the "superstar" status until he has proven it. However I am not overly convinced he needs soft going. Rebecca Curtis said that he needed it in his early races as it helped him sort his jumping out. Which was quite frankly awful. But he has got his confidence now so I don't think the ground will be an issue. Time will tell.

This is the price I have seen. I was working out various multiplier options based on a minimum of three runs. |
By:
Still wouldn't touch it tbh but that's just me! GL if you do.
By:
Fallen Angel - that is a very tempting market. Will have a look at it.
By:
non runner on Saturday
By:
Cut leg oh dear! Shame but long season ahead to get back on track, personally think his price is a joke to win World Hurdle?
By:
Agree Steveo. Should be 10/1 not 5s.
By:
Well hes half the price of Solwhit on here, thats an insult to the champ imo.
By:
Sad to hear that the horse wont be running, haven't had anything on this special yet. Was really looking forward to this race aswell
By:
Yeh real shame, would have been good to see how he faired against Tidal Bay,but at least we get to see the great Tidal Bay.....hope hes fit for what will probably be his last season. Hes been one of my favourites and what could have been had Nicholls got him earlier.
By:
yeah you can only imagine. I was hoping they might try another tilt at the grand national this year. He would almost certainly be benefitted by the weights compression that is occurring.
By:
yeh,i can see similar to last seasons plans if all goes well.
Lexus,World Hurdle and the Grand National, maybe the cleeve hurdle along the way. |
By:
Then after hes won all them, the last hurrah at Sandown in the Whitbread.
![]() Well,one can dream!! |
By:
oops, forgot the Hennessey, could well run in that again as well.
By:
I have learned to love the horse. Nicholls performance with him last season was something outstanding. To say I was gutted to see him injured sitting on a 10/1 world hurdle ticket and a 25/1 GN ticket was somewhat of an understatement.
By:
Shame he is out of 2days race
fan of this horse & hope its nothing to serious with the leg cut. |
By:
Well done Tidal Bay, another top draw performance from a fantastic horse.
By:
Would have been very interesting to see how AFC would have got on. Tidal Bay only came off the bridle late on.
By:
what a star! Love him

By:
Never had a bet but i'm chuffed to bits that hes back and looking good after his setback.
Just love this horse. Looks like hes going to give us some more fun again this season...great stuff. |
By:
He was cantering 2 out. The market drift on him was bizarre, got his ground, stays every inch of the 3m and a field of full of handicappers. But doesn't take away from what he achieved, has this horse been with Nicholls all along it could have won a world hurdle or run a stormer in the GC.
