I'm going on Saturday and he'll be the one I'll be backing.
Report tinkler October 16, 2013 4:01 PM BST
Has anyone seen any recent comments from connections about his well being and that they are definitely going to run him?
Report sintonian October 16, 2013 4:29 PM BST
I backed him on Monday at 6/1,took the chance, but have seen no comments from connections that he would be coming over. I hope he does, it would make sense given he was given the summer off.
Report tinkler October 16, 2013 5:06 PM BST
Sure, difficult to see why they won't run , looks like this have been the plan since the Moulin.
Report BJG October 16, 2013 6:06 PM BST
Maxios had also been in the frame for the Cox Plate at Moonee Valley in October, but Pease said: "I need to speak to the owner, but I don't think he's going to go to Australia.

"I was very pleased with him and he was fine after the race.

"It was a very good run and a very good ride.

"I think that (QEII) would be the most logical next race for him."

Any word on Morandi BJG?
Report tinkler October 16, 2013 6:25 PM BST
Thanks BJG
Report BJG October 16, 2013 7:59 PM BST
Nothin i can find on Morandi - surely a runner anyway given ground

RP today - Only Dawn Approach is now in front of Maxios in Hills' market, at 2-1 and Jonathan Pease, trainer of Maxios, confirmed the Niarchos-owned colt would head to Ascot for Saturday's £1 million race.

everyone confident this horse is up to this company?? never has been before and looks thoroughly exposed

interesting he is so short...go steady is all i will say i don't mean to dampen enthusiasm so good luck
Report sintonian October 17, 2013 12:22 PM BST
He has won 2 Group 1's this year Harry but I agree, if you look through the form it is quite weak by G1 standards. He is however 4/4 at 9f or less and the man reason for backing him was the ground.

Olympic Glory has never won over 1 mile, i'm not sure it is his ideal trip. 7f better imo.
Report harry callaghan October 17, 2013 12:43 PM BST
to be fair sint that is fair comment and maybe just maybe they have been stretching him out his whole career similar to afsare who improved from dropping back to a mile...the ground is there for him so maybe i'm overlooking him a tad... just thought he was very exposed but maybe not as exposed at a mile as i may give him credit for and the ground is right up his street just whether he can do it in this company but suppose looking at the race it is a weak one on previous years so he has a chance...hate to be wrong but maybe i am being a tad harsh in this case against the likely runners

also tend to agree with you in regards olympic glory but he is who i like for this... has had the right campaign but have the same lingering doubts he will see it out...however looks a lazy type and the blinkers are my angle and think he has the class and ground if you can believe his run against moonlight cloud which i do
Report sintonian October 17, 2013 1:19 PM BST
He is exposed, no doubt about that. If it were not Soft ground i'd not be backing him.
Report Millerracing67 October 17, 2013 5:12 PM BST
What form does he have over the Str mile (maxios)?
Report EastLower Gooner October 17, 2013 7:44 PM BST
Wonder if the ground will dry out....not but sunshine today....
Report sintonian October 18, 2013 6:58 PM BST
Dawn Approach is drifting to 11/4 on here. Might have to have a saver .. Surprised
Report the bloob October 18, 2013 11:21 PM BST
trip and ground ideal tomorrow, it's got to be a 'Max' bet
Report pedrobob October 19, 2013 10:32 AM BST
7/2 Dawn Approach with the books. Unless this running on 3 legs, then one of the bets of the season imo, win, lose or draw
Report pedrobob October 19, 2013 10:36 AM BST
What form does he have over the Str mile (maxios)?

apart from possibly once over 10f at Deauville, he's had 16 other races on round tracks. So no evidence that Maxios won't be fine on a straight track
Report EastLower Gooner October 19, 2013 10:38 AM BST
yep he won the le coupe on the 10f straight course at maisons Laffite.
Report EastLower Gooner October 19, 2013 10:55 AM BST
I might go for Olympic Glory....just like the pace set up with Burwazz & LM making it and DA, SFR and Max sitting right in behind looking to push on ASAP. Now whilst I don't doubt that all of those horses have it in them to grind out a strongly run mile I just wonder about the potential pace meltdown....like in the Jacques Le Marois when Moonlight Cloud just picked them off at the 2pole and OG ran on strongly from much further back.

Jacques LE Marois is an interesting race...more or less the same pace set up and just about the strongest quality mile this season (Intello in 3rd, Declaration of War in 4th, DA in 5th and EKate in 7th). Strong form....like the first time blinkers too and back on a flat straight course (apparently he hates the downhill run on the Longchamp mile course).

So might plump for him. Also you just know what Hughes is like...All these good horses slugging it out and he just comes there on the snaff and nicks it with one of those dumb grins on his face.
Report Millerracing67 October 19, 2013 2:06 PM BST
Ground looks very soft & that is in the Fr horses favour (Maxi)
Was going to be with Dawn Approach on g/s, but that ground looks as slow as last year Sad if he drifts to 3s I will have a small play on him as I think he is the best horse in the race, but only a small ££ play due to ground concerns.
Gd luck all.
Report Sandown October 19, 2013 2:50 PM BST
I am intrigued by Kingsbarns. He was Derby favourite over the winter, had a problem, came back in the Irish Champion where he went off 4/1 2nd fav. Ran appallingly but jockey reported problems with him losing his action after banging into the winner.

Ignore that run and you have a potential classic horse, proven in soft ground, trading at 18.0 in a race where the favourite is a poor price for one with a fast ground action imo running on soft ground.

Can't resist throwing a few quid at the price at the AOB horse.
