Sunday is D-Day for my long-range Oaks fancy CARLA BIANCA.  After a lovely intro against the colts FTO, she ducks the opening 1 Mile Maiden Fillies race tomorrow for a run in the 7F Moyglare Stud Group 1.

I mentioned her as more an Oaks type after her debut, on the 1000 Guineas thread, but she didn't look slow on that first run, and loved the quick conditions, with a wonderful stride.

I know its the owners race, which may be partly responsible for the step up in grade, but she has been the most taking debut performing 2yo filly for me this season, and is very well bred.

I was pleased to see WH put up 40/1 for the Oaks yesterday and happy to take that price.

25s for the Guineas a little less appealing but more will be revealed tomorrow.

I can see Tapestry and CARLA BIANCA duelling through the final furlong, and if Tapestry has the speed she could win over 7F tomorrow, but  the 14s for CB looks mighty tempting for Win or EW.

Ditch the comment on EW for tomorrows race, there are only 7 entries and bookies only give 1/4 the odds for 1st and 2nd, which is horrid.  So maybe a win only tickle at 14s, looking at the card the stable could have two winners on the day before the Moyglare, so her odds may contract on the afternoon.

This is a massive rise in class for her and I honestly can't see her getting competitive with the likes of Kiyoshi and Tapestry.... Tomorrow's race will come too soon for her and I'll be amazed if she manages to get placed.

40's bigger than i'd expected her to be.

CARLA BIANCA - beaten, but on reflection not too downhearted.

The 3 fillies who fought out the finish are already on Racing Post RPR's and Topspeed registering better than Sky Lantern and Just the Judge were, before this years 1000 Guineas.

In fact Sky Lanterns 1000 Guineas-winning RPR of 113, nestles between Rizeena's 114 Moyglare rating and Kiyoshi and Tapestry's 112's.

Carla Bianca's 103 rating in 4th is higher then any of this years main Oaks protaganists rated at 2, and higher than most achieved at 3 (pre-Epsom) including easy Oaks winner - Talent.

So 40/1 rolls on, still available, and I rely on Mr Weld for his next move.

A step up in trip is an absolute must.  Either 8F this year, in one final start, or maybe a 10F Oaks trial next spring.

The good thing about the Oaks, is that it doesn't clash with the irish version, so Mr Weld may want to have a crack at both.  Her RPR against 3 top fillies, says she is already rated high enough to be considered c/w last seasons 2yo Oaks-bred fillies.
