I've already had a good look at the entries, trends of past winners and the form and created a relatively long short list

Anyone else started? Will be looking at the ante post market as soon as it opens

Just thought I'd get the thread open

Early doors I know Rick, but straight away, like the look of Clayton, and Silvery Moon.
Report sj June 25, 2013 9:44 AM BST
silvery moon down to run tomorrow, would have to win to stand any chance of getting into the york race(i could be wrong, but thats the way it looks)
Report unclepuncle June 25, 2013 10:13 AM BST
Danchai will probably be shorter than he really should be as he seems to be well backed every time, but is still near the top of my list.

Excellent Result might be interesting at a fair price.
Report judorick June 25, 2013 10:29 AM BST
Danchai is interesting for sure and you can be confident he will be shorter on the day than the he opens ante post

I'm looking at several key factors like age (no older than 5), having won at 9 furlongs or further at least in class 3, BHA at least 91

apply those and you cut the field down plenty

Clayton definitely on the horizon

will be on this regularly from now on
Report unclepuncle June 25, 2013 10:49 AM BST
It's always been one of my favourite flat races (even though my first year was backing Mr Confusion who got disqualified only to be reinstated later onCry) and with the draw bias no longer so evident at York it's now even better.
Report judorick June 25, 2013 10:53 AM BST
yes I agree, cracking race, and the draw is almost irrelevant now, in fact stalls 1-7 been a slight negative lately

3 trainers that I keep an eye on Barron, Haggas and Gosden all represented with interesting horses
Report sj June 25, 2013 1:56 PM BST
do like reading your views judo, but just cant have you can rule horses out because of their age,but we all work in differing ways,as said enjoy your thoughts and look forward to this thread growing.

you don't have to bet what I bet
Report judorick June 25, 2013 3:03 PM BST
for instance, it is 40 years since a horse older than 5 won this race but don't let that put you off backing any 6yo+ that you fancy
Report GoldCupWinner June 25, 2013 3:28 PM BST
8 8 seems a light weight for Remote, I know WFA is factored in but he looks a class horse to me.

Yeah, so far so good sj, Clayton would be my main fancy, but hopefully Silvery can get in now, and I'll get a run for my money.
Report unclepuncle June 29, 2013 7:05 PM BST
Price now available with a lot of bookies.

Danchai at 16/1 was about double what I expected but I see Haggas also has the favourite Stencibe so not sure what running plans are.
Report mac99 July 2, 2013 8:57 AM BST
initial thoughts on the race are that whoever gains the services of   five pound claimer  T.Brown   will be at a  great advantage in a tight handicap , other apprentices   would do well to
watch  his three winning rides at windsor last  Saturday , changes his whip hand like a magician   , a real talent
Report johnnyrant July 2, 2013 11:44 AM BST
Stencive surely won't have enough speed to win this over 10f.
Report Millerracing67 July 2, 2013 3:31 PM BST
Not so sure about that johnny, he is a horse that travels well in his races.
Would not expect Remote to line-up in this, would expect his next race to prob be G1 class. Rye House would be very interesting if it came up soft ground, but over 10f+ it would need to be, so not one u could play ante-p in that hope (soft ground)
Niceofyoutotellme looks interesting imo, the form of his two races this season looks strong & he is open to more improvement.
Have not seen the ante-p betting for this race yet, can someone list it up on here CHEERS. Cool

At a massive price im looking at Jacob Cats, might have needed the run fto, have been waiting for this to go up in trip for a while

Heatwave forecast for the next 3 weeks so definitely going to be fast going.
Report Howellsy July 3, 2013 5:56 PM BST
Uncle puncle: I fear that should read "heatwave forecast for next three weeks so definitely won't be fast going."
Report Millerracing67 July 4, 2013 7:33 PM BST
"How" true ^^^ Wink.
"IF" the weather forecasters are correct, then we are in for a very warm & sunny wk next wk. We shall see. Cool? Sad?

Rye House

With the weather forecast of a very warm sunny wk, fast ground would rule out Rye House & Fast or Free, both horses want ease in the ground.
Niceofyoutotellme would interest me if he makes the cut, I like him.
Report unclepuncle July 7, 2013 10:00 PM BST
Wonder of Danchai will still run - another promising run on Saturday again looking like he needs further. If not then maybe the Cambridgeshire?
Report Facts July 7, 2013 11:37 PM BST
Yep - agree re ground wont favour some of the 6.It starts the process of narrowing it down to the one Happy

Would expect Rye House to be taken out before Sat as well, if the weather forecast is correct.

Niceofyoutotellme antepost 10/1
Report Millerracing67 July 9, 2013 6:19 PM BST
Took a bit of the 12s myself on him, still needs a few to come out tho.
No worries tho, money back if he misses the cut.
Report Facts July 9, 2013 11:25 PM BST
He's in at No.18. Means he's safe doesn't it? What's max. field - low 20's ?
Report mac99 July 10, 2013 7:26 AM BST
I can see niceofyoutotellme  being in the frame   but fancy Educate may do it,  the Dam of this horse Pasithea  only ran three times ,on the third occasion  she was third  in the Aphrodite   which is run over  twelve furlongs , so Educate  ( sire  Echo of light )    should get the trip ok , so will go with that one for now
Report mac99 July 10, 2013 7:48 AM BST
* Educate already won over ten furlongs  but usually  need  min   11f Horse   with speed to  win , was   the angle

Max runners 20 facts. Looks a sure runner on  Sat, all being well with him.
Looks a big player in my book, just need a bit of luck in running, g/f ground will be ideal for him. Think the Barron's horse could prove the main danger, another smart young horse on the up-grade (Clon Brulee)
