I am strongly with the fav here, Intello. I was very impressed with him in the Fielden Stakes, while a lot of people were talking about Hot Snap I thought that he put up the best performance on the same card. I was interested in him for the Derby but Fabre (probably rightly) didn't want him to go that route.
I backed him only for a place in the French Guineas, as while I thought he'd go close I wasn't entirely sure if he'd be best over that trip and I was worried it would turn into another French farce, and sure enough it did. Obviously everybody saw how unlucky he was that day so he's well fancied here but I believe he's still a good bet at the price, he's much better than the colt Fabre sent for the Derby and looks a class above this field.
I like Intello but I just cant back a horse at 9/4 in a race which is as rough as this one is traditionally. I like First Cornerstone at 20's, he ran well enough in the Irish 1000 bearing in mind a mile on quick ground would not have suited him at all. This trip and ground will suit much more. I'll also have a saver on Morandi who will also like the step up in trip.

The ground is very soft at Chantilly and Intello has looked really good on better ground. I really like Morandi stepping up in distance and he's put up massive performances on really bad ground. It's bound to be a rough race with 19 runners and I wouldn't want to be taking short prices

Yes, I know what you both mean, I just think that he's already a bit better than the average winner and with so much in hand hopefully he'll overcome any hard luck, a good pace, which we sometimes get in this race, should see him win well.

Some of you may remember I tipped last years winner Saonois at a huge price , and was also just touched off in this years French 2,000 with my 100/1+ selection, so to save you all the bother of going through the form the winner is........
I'll come back to you shortly.

There is no doubt that Intello was hugely eye catching in the French 2,000 and is a worthy favourite stepping back up in trip, but at 2/1 in a race famous for it's horror stories I couldn't lump on.
Instead I'll just have a stakes saver on him and have my main (but still small) bet on my French 2,000 second Dastarhon @ 15, who, as he was on that occasion, is a much bigger price than he should be due to his unfashionable connections. His breeding suggests the step up in trip will suit.

Didn't Fabre bring Intello over to Newmarket for the better ground? Will he like it Soft ..
I backed Morandi last night, mainly due to his good draw and decent performances when the mud is flying.

According to the Racing Post it's very soft but on Equidia they say it's good to soft. I backed Morandi myself thinking it was going to be really bad ground but it looks to have gone against him.

Maxime Guyon is Andre Fabre's stable jockey so has he got off Intello to ride Sky Hunter ? If he has is that the message we should be listening to ref ground and horse to back ?

Peslier rides all wertheimers horses but he was on their other horse Anodin in the French 2000, it's only good to soft at Chantilly now so it won't bother Intello

I think Intello will be a bigger price in France, I've laid him just because of his short price and the fact that there's so many runners with his running style

French going reports are known to greatly exaggerate cut in the ground, it was described as soft when Reliable Man won but was no softer than good. Intello has won on French good to soft and heavy last year, albeit in lesser company. While I'd always prefer good ground or firmer for a proper Gp1 horse (which I believe Intello is), unless it turns out to be an absolute mudbath I don't think the ground will be a problem.

Peslier has ridden the horse 3 times and each time he's kept him close to the leaders, it was only when Guyon rode him that he was held up in rear. Partly because he had a poor draw but I still thought it was an inept ride.

the PMU are giving the ground as good to soft. That sounds about right given the good weather they've had the last couple of days (though the times at Longchamp yesterday looked slow)

Lion d'Anvers and Dastarhon were pretty unlucky in the Poulains. Both look value here, with Shikarpour a dark one against them. 2-1 on anything in this race with this number of runners cries out to be opposed.

Cheers, Senor, would've been a real head scratcher if I'd got that wrong. By my reckoning he could've run a bit quicker than that if needed, so it bodes well for the rest of his campaign that he's not been bottomed yet. Best middle distance 3yo I've seen this year.
