Left in the 1,000 Guineas, which is the only British Classic he hasn't won, by the master trainer Andre Fabre. The fact that she has been left in is surely significant as he would know a good filly if he had one. One to watch out for in early French races when the turf season gets going.
I am really looking forward to seeing how Alumna fares tomorrow. She is from a lovely family, her Listed-winning dam (over 1m 5f) a half sister to dual Champion Stakes heroine Alborada, three-time German Group 1 winner Albanova and several other winners, out of a full sister to the dam of Quarter Moon and Yesterday and a half sister to Doncaster Cup winner Alleluia (later dam of high-class stayer Allegretto) and Last Second (later dam of Aussie Rules).
She also holds entries in the Prix Saint-Alary, French 1000 Guineas and French Oaks, so clearly shows Andre Fabre plenty at home, for all it's hardly surprising to see such a well-bred filly entered up in all the early Classics (black type will obviously be the aim with this filly).
Henri-Alex Pantall runs Swooning, a Raven's Pass daughter of smart middle distance filly Rosa Parks, herself a half sister to high-class US middle distance mare Coretta among others, out of a half sister to Barathea, Gossamer etc. Jean-Claude Rouget saddles Shenliyka, a Danehill Dancer half sister to Group 1-placed 7f 2yo winner Shediak and Irish 1m 3yo winner Shehira, out of an unraced daughter of a French Oaks winner. He also runs Lamorlaye, a Danehill Dancer first foal of a maiden half sister to Arc winner Dylan Thomas, 1000 Guineas winner Homecoming Queen, top-class 2yo Queen's Logic and Oaks runner-up Remember When. However, none of the aforementioned trio hold any big-race entries.
It's a fascinating race, and I hope that Alumna can fully justify her lofty entries and make a winning start to her career.

Could I ask other contributors to this thread - indian haven, Cream Of The Crop - what websites you use to get information on entries, pedigrees etc? I'm minded to try to follow the French scene more closely this season.
Thanks in anticipation.

On the France Galop website you can go to the Horseracing Professionals site. Under horses and key players you can get the form together with all current and past entries for any horse in their database.
Under races you can get entries for about the next six days- for races further out it is easier to check on a horse you would expect to be entered and then see all the entries for any race in which that is entered.
