I remember watching an interview with NTD earlier in the season and he was asked about why he doesn't have any Champion Hurdle horses. he said its just the fact they cant afford the flashier more expensive types you'd need for the CH...so sticks to the 3mile chasers in the making.
hopefully he's found one now. |

Have also coupled him (TNO) with Pont Alexandre at 40-1 for the Gold Cup (in 2015).
Am I insane!!! |
|
By:
On trends(sorry to bring that in) but isn't The New One the ideal horse?
|
|
By:
What is best price available TNO? He is going to run in Aintree next.

I'm surprised that it's even been questioned as to whether TNO would remain over hurdles. Have you seen the size of the horse? A naturally sized hurdler.
In the run up to the Neptune Willie Mullins kept banging on about what a fantastic horse Pont Alexandre was...the best since....blah, blah. But he always kept dropping the 'chaser' word in during his beaming admiration of his star novice. Pont Alexandre is built like a chaser and ran like a chaser in a hurdle race. Next year he'll be a different proposition and would hammer a horse like TNO over the bigger stuff. TNO himself looks a proper horse to go for the CH next year. I'd go so far as to say if the field in the Supreme, CH and the Neptune had all run in the same race last week, the winner would have been TNO. If you think that's cobblers, then take a look at the sectionals from Turftrax who tagged the horses this year, same course so full analogy between the Tues and Weds races. Given the cold weather there would have been little in the way of improvement in the ground between the Tuesday and the Wednesday, so a like for like performance should be expected wrt to going. TNO rattled up the hill, carrying a few lbs less than the CH runners fair enough.....but he'd carried that for 1/2 mile further. A superb performance. Hopefully next year well see a straight shoot out between the best two of the novice hurdlers from this year in the Champion Hurdle. The New One v Jezki will be a race to savour |

Agree it was a mismatch between a budding staying chaser (PA) and a pacey young hurdler (TNO). I suspect that they will both take high rank in their respective disciplines as time passes. Accordingly I have gone in deep at 40-1 (PA/GC) and 33-1(TNO/CH) singly and coupled (with fingers crossed that they both stay healthy!). Although highly speculative, it will at least provide some interest over the next couple of seasons!
I would only add that it certainly seems that Our Connor will be a threat to the best of them as he matures! |
