Binocular hasnt won first time out last three seasons... so you would think he has no chance against him... but watching his runs last season I dont think he was quite right... and seemed to show his real form in the Champion hurdle only 1 length behind the fly.

I am a bit more positive about his chances this time... there is no expectation for him to win as he has had a longer lay off than usual... and hoping he may show much more tomorrow against Hurricane fly who has never been beaten at Leopardstown yet.

Looking at the rest of the field I dont think Thousand Stars is shgowing the same form previous seasons ago beaten by the Fly and Captain Cee Bee, and that horse is not good enough... so you would expect Bincular to atleast get 2nd...

So, hopefully an each way bet, is a bet to nothing at 5/1.

Think Thousand Stars will chin him for second on this heavy ground.

I'd say there's more chance of him finishing unplaced,( taking into account his record fresh) than there is of him winning, so you're risking your stake with the best realistic outcome of only breaking even pretty much...not for me.

His record fresh is not great but were nearly into February now, and they won't send him over to Ireland unfit. This is usually his time of year, he's won the Xmas Hurdle twice.

Thousand Stars could beat him but not sure he is the same these days but it's not conclusive.

Very unusual prep this for Binocular compared to previous years. Curious as to the thinking behind it and it certainy isn't for the better ground.

Hes usually best in his 2nd race of the season,so watch today and back him next time.
That will be the CHurdle i expect,so should get a nice e/w price.

I think they'll let him stay in Ireland on holiday for a week or two similar to his prep when he won it looool.

Because HF would have been 1-10 without the JP owned Binocular

really disappointed didnt snatch second ... i think his instructions were to be easy on the horse... Henderson said he was close to his champion hurdle weight on that performance you wouldnt think so!

Strange the same drum is being banged on another thread, take the hint guys this horse is not the force he was!!!! Has very little chance of beating any of the 'big guns' nowadays. Watch the race back again watch AP he was never happy with him.

It's actually a very good sign for binocular fans that it appears that HF is back to his best this year.....because it means that mccoy will actually be following a horse this year that will be able to get him into the race in good time this yearWink

Some rubbish on here.

Sure in the winter years of his career we should all know that Binocular needs a strong pace and good ground as well as coming on for his first race.

Have those chemtrails been effecting logic again?
