Full of 2 and 2 1/2 milers and he is at the moment looking like the only true 3 miler that's going to run in the great race ....year after year class 2 and 2 1/2 milers try and win this race but they have all failed ...this year we have Cue Card - Al Ferof - Riverside Theater - Sizing Europe - Finians Rainbow all class horses but unproven over 3 Miles ....
IMO from what both Al Ferof and Cue Card have shown this season, they will both relish the step up to 3miles on a flat speed track like Kempton. I think I'd even chuck Sizing Europe in as a horse I'd rather be on than Long Run. After Long Run getting beaten so comprehensivly in the Gold Cup last year to someone other than Kauto it was important that he bounced back with a convincing win at Haydock. He had conditions to suit at Haydock but could not get the job done. How many more chances do you keep giving Long Run?
It's going to be a cracker of a King George and obviously with no Kauto it's going to be the most open in a long time.

Timeform proclaimed Long Run unbeatable last season failing to take into account his jumping or lack of. They also didnt factor in the Henderson chaser factor which is miniscule compared to the Henderson hurdler factor. The horse was never in the best hands if he couldnt jump well as the likes of Bacchanal have shown in the past Henderson cannot correct these issues himself and even sending the horse to an expert for this cannot negate the fact this horse has been racing from an early age in France and may already have enough taken out of his legs.

The Betfair Chase was a warm up race for Long Run for the King George. He will be significantly more tuned up for the race he always seems to run well in.
His Kempton CV reads very well:
3 runs - 2 wins & 2nd (behind Kauto Star)
Won Feltham chase by 14 lengths
Won King George by 12 lengths
2nd to Kauto Star (beaten 1 1/4 lengths)
Away from Kempton, his record is not so impressive:
Run 8, Won 3, Lost 5
He has bounced back from performances that were deemed disappointing in the past e.g. beaten in Paddy Power - won King George; beaten 8 lengths by Kauto Star at Haydock - closed the gap to 1 1/4 lengths in the King George.
I just think this is his race for the season, he'll be spot on, and will take all the beating. My good friend 'the trends' is nodding sagely in agreement.
