yes you do but be carefull i had an each way bet on menorah for this years arkle about 3 weeks before the race  at ladcrooks and on the day their were less than 8 runners ,menorah finished 3rd and when i went to collect they said its a loser ,after a further 2 visits back to the shop i finaly got paid . and check before you bet ante post each way with billys as on non handicaps they only pay 1/5th the odds .

Never back each way antepost it is the way to the poorhouse.

Getting to then winning the race is a double.

Getting to then being placed in the race is a double.

It is two bets.

The place bet let us say you take a 12/1 shot at 1/4 odds a place giving you 3/1 if it is placed.
The chances of getting there may be Evens meaning you are actually only getting Evens for the second part of the double for a 12/1 shot being placed in a race months away. Betting near an event you get the full 3/1 place for a 12/1 shot.
This is extremely bad value you are better to put your place part of the each way bet on another horse in the race as a single to give a greater chance of having a runner on the day and collecting from one of the two runners.
