The world's highest-rated racehorse is due to step up to a mile and a quarter for the first time on the Knavesmire next month in the race sponsored by his owner, Prince Khalid Abdullah.
With the race confirmed as the target for Sir Henry Cecil's four-year-old some time ago, connections of the other top middle-distance horses in Europe could have been forgiven from shying away from the task, but a strong field is in prospect following the latest forfeit stage.
Chief among them is John Gosden's Coral-Eclipse winner Nathaniel, who so nearly backed up his Sandown victory in the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot.
Aidan O'Brien is unsurprisingly well represented, with the likes of St Nicholas Abbey, Treasure Beach and Imperial Monarch all in the mix.
Cecil also has Bullet Train, Jet Away and Twice Over.
Planteur, Saturday's York Stakes winner Sri Putra and French ace Cirrus Des Aigles are other contenders.

Pprobably not, but he's the only one I give an earthly too. If by some miracle all 3 of our horses run I'll happily have a match bet that he does better than your two.

Trainers of the lower rated horses will have taken note of what happened in the Sussex and with good prize money down to sixth they could well run ,with the possiblity that none of the big guns will oppose Frankel. Difficult to tell exactly what AOB will run ,but unless Frankel picks up an injury there must be a good chance he'll run nothing. Is Sna not being aimed at the Irish Champion? CDA's connections seem quite keen but would they really come over unless its soft? Cann't see soft ground specialist Nathaniel lining up unless it's soft. Possible line up Frankel, his pacemaker, miblish, dancing Rain, planteur , one of the Godolphin runners(monterosso or fahrh).

I think you may be about right tinkler. I think Nathaniel will end up up in Irish Champion and when they are considering the Moulin, I still cannot understand why they didn't give Frankel the Irish entry. Possibly too quick after York, but would love to see them go after the opposition and supplement him but just wishful thinking I guess

Cirrus Des Aigles to miss clash with Frankel in York's International
• French horse runs out of time after ankle injury • Trainer called in police to investigate positive test Will Hayler
guardian.co.uk, Tuesday 7 August 2012
Frankel's potential opposition in his first venture over further than a mile has been weakened by the news that Cirrus Des Aigles is set to miss York's Juddmonte International Stakes on 22 August. The Champion Stakes winner has not recovered sufficiently quickly from an ankle injury to make the line-up at York and will instead reappear next month in the Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown.
However a clash with Frankel could still be on the cards, as his trainer, Corine Barande-Barbe, is considering a return to Ascot for the Champion Stakes on 20 October.
"The cut he sustained to his ankle was a very deep one which quickly became infected and the wound took longer to heal than I had hoped," she said on Tuesday. "I kept him walking every day but I didn't want him to gallop on the sand while he was still recovering and, although he is working again now, there won't be enough time to get him ready for York.
"It is a great shame, as I was looking forward to running him there, but there are other races for him and I will now try to get him ready for Leopardstown. After that, there is Ascot, or I may look for a race at Longchamp on Arc weekend. He has recovered well from the injury and I have no doubt that he will come back as good as ever but we have just run out of time."
Meanwhile, the investigation into a positive test for a banned anti-inflammatory, given by the horse after he was second in the Prix d'Ispahan in May, rumbles on without any sign of an imminent conclusion. Barande-Barbe has denied any wrongdoing throughout the process and revealed that French police have recently visited her yard after she made a formal complaint as to how the positive test had arisen, alleging either contamination or malpractice during the sampling and testing process.
"The police talked to everyone that was with the horse that day and now I believe they are dealing with France-Galop," she said, referring to the ruling body of French racing. "I have heard nothing more. I still haven't even seen the test myself but I am told it was such a massive result that it must have been given to him on the day or maybe even after the race. Maybe the sample wasn't even from Cirrus des Aigles, I don't know.
"But France-Galop must know that the result just doesn't make any sense. Why would anyone give a horse such a massive dose of anything? I had organised cameras here at the stables, but not at the races and that must be where something happened. The first thing will be to verify that the sample actually came from the horse, but what happens next I don't know."
France-Galop did not respond on Tuesday to requests for comment but has previously affirmed its confidence in the testing system.
In the meantime, Cirrus Des Aigles is free to continue racing. "I just want it to finish, because I am sure that we did nothing wrong," said the trainer. "You can only guess how it long it will take, though."
Opposition to Frankel at York could now be headed by the Eclipse winner, Nathaniel, who was narrowly denied by Danedream in the King George at Ascot last month, although his trainer, John Gosden, was overseas on Tuesday and no decision is expected to be taken over the four-year-old's participation until nearer the raceday.
Aidan O'Brien still has the unbeaten Derby winner Camelot entered in the contest, although the likes of St Nicholas Abbey and Imperial Monarch are more likely candidates. One confirmed runner is the Marco Botti-trained Planteur, a late withdrawal from a Group Two at York last month when the ground was deemed unsuitably quick.
"It was a shame, as it looked a good opportunity for him and it was the right race, but we didn't want to take a risk," said Botti. "The intention has always been to run him in the Juddmonte International. He will run wherever the ground is right and obviously we are going to meet Frankel if we go to York, but if we think the ground is too fast again, he has the option of the Irish Champion Stakes."
Richard Hughes may shortly hit the front for the first time in this season's jockeys' championship after four winners from six rides at Bath saw him close the gap on Ryan Moore to three.
Moore, who has already made it clear that regaining the title does not figure prominently among his priorities, is enjoying a couple of days off and will not return to the saddle until Thursday evening at Sandown.
In contrast, Hughes has a number of rides on Wednesday at Brighton and Kempton and surely won't be long in bridging the gap to his rival.

It's a real shame this race isn't over 1 1/2m. SNA armed with pacemakers would then probably provide Frankel with his most interesting test since he won the 2,000 guineas. It will be interesting to see how SNA runs against the rest of the opposition dropping back to 1 1/4m . Some of the novelty markets e.g betting w/o, winning dist and headstart betting could be quite interesting.

Would be interested in Twice Over w/o Frankel. Can see SNA involved in the cut & thrust early up the straight & cut his own throat. No need for Twice Over to get involved up front trying to challenge Frankel(as excelebration found out) but run on late off the furious gallop to pick up place money.

Sir Henry Cecil is planning to make a welcome return to the racecourse in order to see Frankel compete in Wednesday's Juddmonte International at York.
The celebrated trainer, who has been receiving ongoing treatment for cancer, has not wanted to pick up other infections and missed the unbeaten superstar's most recent victory in the Sussex Stakes at Glorious Goodwood.
Cecil said: "Although I have had some medical treatment recently and not been racing because my immune system is low, I have been able to work from home. I am very hopeful that I will be able to make it to York on Wednesday to saddle my horses."
He added: "I just cannot miss the day and I want to be there for Frankel."
With Tom Queally unsurprisingly sticking with Frankel, his regular lead horse Bullet Train will be ridden by Eddie Ahern.
Another Cecil inmate, Twice Over, who won the International last year, will be reunited with Ian Mongan.
Aidan O'Brien also fields three runners, headed by Coronation Cup hero St Nicholas Abbey, who is dropping back in trip from a mile and a half. Outsiders Windsor Palace and Robin Hood also run for the Ballydoyle team.
Godolphin's Farhh chased home Frankel at Goodwood last time and is set to take his chance again, although trainer Saeed bin Suroor has warned he will only run if the ground is suitable.
Marco Botti's Planteur and the Roger Varian-trained Sri Putra complete the line-up, with Coral-Eclipse winner Nathaniel the only horse to have been taken out on Monday.

Anaglogs is this taken from the RP as the same non info is printed, trainer states FARHH will run only if the ground is suitable, I wonder what is the suitable ground?
