MEANDRE and Fabre has found the key to him! back to back Group1 wins.
Thought he did very weill today...overcomming adversity ie pulling hard, not settling, having to deal with a typical slow German pace from one of their leading crack front runners....but still showing plenty of class by exploding past all of them in the straight to win very smartly.
Good performance(danedream won this last year).but......earl of tinsdale et al not quite good enough for arc,and this year could be vintage field.
Danedream beat meandre out of sight last year, admitetly meandre seems to have found his form this year and cannot be written off,but danedream should again have a good gallop to run to again.
Then there is nathaniel, poss camelot, main sequence(minus ted durcan hopefully),beauty parlour and even dunaden are waiting.
The jewel in the crown could be orfevre for me and i shall back danedream nearer the race as although 6/1 is fair anything could rule him out between now and october, hope not.
Just been viewing orfevre's races again and i have a theory as to why he pulled himself up and then ran on again to nearly get up in the gp 2 he lost in april.....At the start he was racing promninent and wide and cause of the lower class of opposition found himself disputing the lead on crossing the post on the first circuit,a position that was new to the horse.
The japanese crowd were cheering(as usual) and i submit that he thought(the horse)that the race was over, and toward the far side he was on his own and started to pull himself up wide, until he saw the field scoot pass on his inside and set off again as he had a target to catch again.

Although I did not see race, your theory could be right, we humans tend to think that animals are stupid and some of them are, but aren't some of us humans stupid as well? The JAPANESE love a good racehorse and are unusually voluble during the racing, unlike we British. People who get really close to animals can vouch for your theory, most respond to kindness and food.

Yes also horses like humans tend to be creatures of habit, and once trainers get to know their likes and dislikes train them accordingly, hence the c/d statistics for some horses.
I very much doubt connections will let orfevre get too near the pace in future races although he doesn't require exgarerated hold up tactics like deep impact.
This beast(in all senses of the word)if you type in 'orfevre' on you tube, can stay 15f and had the speed to win the japan gineas(10f). He takes an age to pull up after the winning line and in his head he was pulling up in the gp2 race on the back straight until he saw the others race on.
