Fiorente is 14-1 for this race at HQ on Thursday and I feel that for a horse with his ability this seems an ew steal, unraced as a 2yo he had a very decent three year old season and his second to Nathanial would put him right in the mix here, its true he has to improve on what he has shown so far this season but this one is capable of way better than we have seen and surely rates a decent ew punt, his last run was to bad to be true and its only a matter of time before he shows last seasons form in my opinion.

Was really hoping for a big season this year from Fiorente, been disappointed so far, but I agree he strikes me as just the sort to turn it on one day and pop up in a decent race. I'm with you at the price on Thursday, it's a race I look at that I want to take on everything above him in the market, and so for me he rates the bet. Expect him to continue bombing for the rest of the season and then pop up the time I don't back him then!!!

I'd also be keen if the ground dried out to good, but looking at latest weather, looks like it'll be good to soft, maybe softer, which won't suit him.

 I wouldn't say he was an E/W steal, but I certainly wouldn't put anyone off him. Ballymacoll stud horses ALWAYS look like there's room for improvement in them and even though he's disappointed so far this season, this could be his springboard to greater heights. I think he could be well up to group two level, and a similar sort in Modun (ex-Ballymacoll) could be the biggest danger, as I suspect he hasn't reached a peak yet. This is an eminently winnable race, as the ones at the head of the betting, Red Cadeaux & Harris Tweed, though admirable horses, would be huge prices in a group one contest, and really aren't to be feared THAT much. I couldn't be TOO dogmatic, but at around 6/1 to back the pair, I reckon it's a far better bet than the combined odds-on of the front two in the market - that's well worth laying! |

I am convinced by the e/w case for Fiorente , even if soft today has a reasonable chance of being placed , his sixth last time was a better run than the placing suggests as he ra into the back of one or two horses in the straight and lost some momentum 8/1 shot imo

I think he has chucked it in the last twice. Interesting they dabbled with cheekpieces at Royal Ascot, which only adds to my doubts about his resolution. Good luck lads at the price, maybe I'm wrong.

Hey foetus most impressed with your immense sadness at knowing Jai, not sure if your RON ELY in disguise though, maybe a distant cousin of BRUNO GERUSI mind you then theres the possibility your a relative of both BERNIE HAMILTON or ED DEVEREAUX who knows, however well impressed, try getting those by the way without the internet.

there is no getting away from it. As yet, Fiorente hasn't progressed as we would have hoped this season. And things don't get any easier in this company, with the likes of Red Cadeaux and Jakkalberry, horses I know well, in opposition. But he travelled well for a long way in the Hardwicke at Ascot last time and I wouldn't be in a rush to rule him out here as he is a horse with a lot of class and speed when things fall right for him. We run him without the cheekpieces he wore at Ascot. Red Cadeaux looks the one to beat here.

With the NR's...the favourites are now paired at around 1/2 whilst Fiorente & Modun coupled are around 9/2 - I know what I prefer

I have to concede that I didn't think he was an 'E/W steal' because he'd shown little so far this season - the word 'steal' is strictly reserved for those rarities than I just CANNOT see out of the money, so present state of euphoria aside...I'm still realistic.
